Would a felon having to pay tax on a firearm he possesses be a violation of his 5th amendment rights? So with the rate of Felons returning to a life of crime wouldn't possession of a firearm be grounds to confiscate it? Now they want our guns and our money. They use the Pittman-Roberts as an example of taxes we already pay. Why not add more?

This will never fly. It will be challenged in a court of law and will be found unconstitutional.
What we need are taxes/fines levied by the FCC for false reporting of facts (fake news). You are entitled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own "facts".

That will make the newsies change from reporting things as facts to opinions and will most likely result in them hiring more news people to check facts instead of just grabbing information and spewing it as news.

Very few, if any, news organizations check out a story’s facts before issuing it. They’ve got to be first with the story. Then every other news organization picks up that story and runs with it. After that they even go so far as t say that the story has to be true as it is posted everywhere. Repeated lies are still lies.
