Cell service sucks where I hunt so I don't have to worry about it.

I've said since these cameras became available that they shouldn't be used during the hunting season(s).

$5k for gps coordinates and pictures of a specific animal. Now that’s just pure craziness.

With only one 10 acre piece of private woods left for me to hunt (which I have to share with another guy) I figured a cell cam might help me get eyes on a bigger buck. I have questioned the ethics of using it, but it doesn’t really matter in my circumstances. It’s helped me understand why I’ll never get a crack at a 3+ year old buck out there….8 different trespassing incidents so far this year and as soon as they show up the deer disappear for a while.

Yeah…. Some claim the cameras save more deer then they kill!

I agree its not fair chase and some big outfielders put out very many on multiple states to hunt the biggest. No fair chase at all.

I personally do not think the cell cameras should be allowed during the season much like a drone is not allowed. I heard of one guy in a different state was at home in the house and his cell cam sent him a picture of a good buck and he hurried out the door with his gun and was able to kill the deer when it crossed a field close to the camera. Unethical if you ask me.

As much as I disagree with their use, the reality is banning them during the season (or any other time) will likely never happen as enforcing that law (especially on private property) would be nearly impossible.

The question of fair chase is only a question you can answer I see baiting deer with corn apples as wrong yet I plant food plots I fill it’s fair only because I feed for the year not just during hunting season
And yet I’ve have been in a tree stand more than once looking down on bear bait but in that area it’s about your only way
I’ve overlooked water holes in WY more than once chasing lopes not the only way but most one of the most efficient ways
I believe that scores TV net Facebook are tearing hunting apart just read about any post you won’t see I just let a nice buck walk by it will say I just let a 130 walk by nothing wrong with it if you only want to hunt bigger deer but it seems to shame a guy not to post his six point that he’s worked his butt off to kill that might of been the only buck he had a chance at
Maybe it’s just me but I’d rather take a deer any deer the old fashioned way than have cell cams out all over telling me when to get out and hunt I’m sure it increases your odds no sent no travel in your area but to me that’s the part that makes it hunting and I enjoy it

If made into law there would be more people complying to set law then law breakers ….The LARGE part of the hunting community are law abiding folks IMO

The biggest advantage I see is not having to go in and leave your scent behind to check your cams. I'd have a few out here if I had a decent phone signal.

I just started running a TactaCam Reveal cell camera this year and to be honest - I like it.
I used to go up and pull cards once a week spreading my human stink all around but now I can see the pics at home while drinking my coffee. I can see where, like anything else, it can be abused.. The way I use it the only difference is I do not have to go physically check the camera. Since its on the food plot in pretty well the middle of the 40 acres I wont be getting down out of one stand to go get in another in accordance to a picture that suddenly showed up. The buck I killed this year was on the camera ...in mid October. He disappeared not to be seen again until I killed him the second Saturday in the firearm season.
So did that camera help me kill a buck? Nope... not at all.

I used two cell cameras last year all season long and still never got the larger buck I had pictures from, but sure enjoyed using them!

I run regular trailcams for inventory and scouting purposes like most. (Doubt I will buy a cellular one though.) Depends how they are used IMO. I can see them being a valuable tool to keep eye on property from afar and scouting BUT they could be used to give hunter a unfair advantage. Think most hunters hunt for the thrill of the chase and just not the kill. Personally would not have problem with not allowing during season.

Quit using several years ago. Takes the excitement of not knowing what’s out there for me. But I can look right out my window and see deer.
