The hard part is paying for a charter. Those guys aren't cheap! For any charter I suggest finding a like minded individual to share costs with. Shameless plug here, if the situation was right I'd be interested.

I believe from what I can read on net your sharing with people regardless Use to go over to Erie and get on the party boats I can’t remember anymore but I think it was 35 bucks per person might be 15 20 people on the boat honestly don’t know if they even do that anymore probably 25 years ago since I did it.

Excel SportfishingAlijos Rocks first choice Guadalupe island 2nd choice Been on it a number of times, always had a fantastic time. Thanks sir We’re are they based out of San Diego, Ca. If you want to go, and are driving, I have pretty much all the tackle you will need, just need to put new line on the reels - they can do that there at the tackle shop at the landing. (Fisherman’s Landing Tackle 619.221.8506.) Anything from a jig stick with 30-40 pound to live bait rod/reels to a Penn 50 wide 2 speed for trolling or live bait fishing. Got a rod belt and harness too. My tackle box needs a 2 wheel dolly to take it from the truck to the boat. LOL I made it out of marine grade plywood. I have all the terminal tackle too - hooks, sinkers, etc. Imagine putting a hook thru a 2# mackerel's nose and lobbing it out for bait.....

Those are tuna on their nose tied to the rail and there is a guy in the boat next to the Excel. Qualifier ExcelThere will be 16-30 guys on the boat. Think 124 feet long and 32 feet wide. You have staterooms that sleep 2 guys, some have their own bathroom, or there is a shower/bathroom on the main deck. They feed you like a king. Typically breakfast, lunch and supper. They have a mid morning and mid afternoon snack set out, sometimes the cook will ask if anyone wants to donate the next tuna/dorado for sushi. There's always fresh fruit out, milk & juice. Beer and soda is extra. Last trip I was on it was $200/day but that was a long time ago.

I guess I was a bit vague, I'm talking sailfish and the like. Tuna would be cool too! I've done charters and party boats. Party boats are good if you're on the fish to me it seems like with the smaller charters you (the customer) have more of a say in the matter if things aren't going great, that said, I'd just tell the capt. to do what he thought was best anyway. I've been on 30 ft party boats that were great I've been on charters that were a disaster but if someone wanted some BIG fish like sailfish and wanted a partner... If I can work out the time I'd be interested I'm not made of money but could handle my share of the cost. In a nutshell that's what I'm trying to say.

That sounds like a fun multi-day trip for sure… I have never been out on boat from Callie but have done a many party boats out of east coast Virginia Beach and NC area and one Blue fish trip from Brooklyn, NY

3 day trips on the excel, 10 day on the Spirit of Adventure. I think I did 5 day trips too on the Excel. Remember I lived out there so it was no big deal going out. I've been on the Red Rooster III (out of Oceanside), the Excel, the Spirit of Adventure, Polaris Supreme and the Royal Polaris. Mostly short 2-3 day trips, but I have done a few 5-7 day trips and I kinda fell into that 10 day trip. Those trips, once you leave the dock you don't hit land until the trip is over. www.hmlanding.com/boat/spirit-of-adventurewww.polarissupreme.com/www.fishermanslanding.com/boats/royalpolaris.phpwww.redrooster3.com/ On that 10 day trip we were as far South as Cabo San Lucas and at one point we were 400 miles offshore. The trip on the Red Rooster III, that was interesting..... It has 3 main motors. We left the dock on 2, something was wrong with the 3rd. Down around Guadalupe Island the 2nd one took a dump. Then a storm came up out of the North. The captain said if you want a hot meal, eat now, because the seas are going to be too rough to cook something hot after this. Oh boy..... It took us 2 days to get back home, IIRC it was 12 hours just to go from San Diego to Oceanside. The cook slipped in the galley and broke a finger, a hotplate slid around enough to start a small fire, and when we got back I was in the galley when she opened up the one refrigerator. It looked like someone threw a hand grenade in it and shut the door. All the shelves and food was in one pile on the bottom of the 'fridge. I was up on the 2nd floor with the captain in the wheelhouse, and when the boat would go down in the bottom of the swell, we were looking at the next wave coming at us higher than our eye level. This a boat that is 105 feet long..... Red Rooster III infoOne of the trips to Guadalupe Island on the Excel, we were catching 40#-60# Bluefin. The cap't came over the loudspeaker and said "Put away your 40# tackle, there are bigger fish showing up, I'd fish with no less than 60#). Most switched, one guy didn't and he hooked up. He missed first, 2nd and 3rd call for supper, and when the fish finally got close so we could see it in the lights of the boat, it took off. It was in the 100# class. Then something grabbed the fish and all the guy could do is hold onto the rod as he got spooled and the line popped right at the reel. Now, knowing that Great White Sharks go there, it was probably one of them. IIRC he lost 300-500 yds of line and nothing he did would slow down whatever was swimming away. Another trip we had about a 12' Hammerhead swimming around picking up everybody's Mackerel, and cutting the line. Cap't. said who has a steel leader? I had one. He said we will put it out there, and EVERYBODY on deck will take turns, spending 10 minutes each on the rod keeping the shark busy while the others on the boat keep catching Tuna. That worked, and we all caught nice Tuna. That Hammerhead was about 3' across between it's eyes. Oh the things I saw while out on the water. Lots of cool stuff. One trip the Cap't. knew Mexican fishermen on an island. He got close and hailed them over. We traded a frozen chicken for 2 Rock Lobsters, and he gave them enough chickens that we all had a lobster for dinner with our steak that night. Whales, dolphins, Opah, very large Ocean Sunfish, fishing for HUGE Humboldt Squid (about 3 feet long - we all were covered with ink and took a bunch home), Marlin, Dorado, catching blackfin tuna at night until your arms about fell off; coming into the Port of San Diego and see a HUGE wave start to catch up to the boat, then see a conning tower from one of the Navy Subs come up and follow you into the harbor, etc.

Been 21 years in July but I went to Cincinnati on my honeymoon and we took an 8 hr trip. Missed a sailfish but caught wahoo, barracuda, Mahi, Bonito, snapper grouper and it was insanely cheap.
I went back on a 4 hr trip 2 days later. The trip has 3 fisherman a captain and deck hand. Pretty awesome. I am sure it is more expensive now to stay in cancun and fishing too. We just walked to the dock and picked an open boat.
If I wasn't on my honeymoon I would have fished every day!
