Sooooo, due to my gig at Scheels I can now take advantage of some pretty nice discounts on guns!! I currently have a Benelli Nova and a Stoeger P3000....both perfectly functional (the Benelli is my go to and a much better gun). BUT with the discount and my burgeoning love of popping geese I am looking at moving to semi auto. I have shot both gas and inertia and lean heavily toward inertia. I am also going to go with a 3.5 gun just for versatility ( although I am fond of 3s you never know what is going to be in the blind/pit). I am looking strongly at the Franchi Affinity 3.5.
Does anyone have experience to add to my decision?
I am also open to other options so feel free to suggest!!
Thanks

Well. The franchi is a great gun and I really liked how it felt but I ended up going with the Benelli sbe3 as it felt better to me. It sure is hard shelling out 1600 clams for one but man I love that shotgun. Mine shot a bit high but I learned a trick online on how to bring the pattern down and now it hits about 60/40 which I’m good with. Good luck with your choice

Good luck with your choice I've shot the SBEs quite a bit (usually guides guns) and would love one but the difference in price (even with my discount) is too much to swallow for me. The extra $$$$$ can buy me another really nice rifle......gotta think about that one too

FWIW, I'm going to give you a piece of hard earned (and unsolicited) advice.
Buy the gun you really want.
It's really just that simple. Buy the gun you really want.
A few hundred dollars now may seem like a lot of money, but if you settle for something, you'll likely end up selling (or trading) it, lose money and then the gun you really wanted is just that much more expensive.
Even if it takes another few months (or longer) to do so, save your money and @ that point in time (and if you still really want THAT gun), go buy it.
The same thing holds true with bows, camo clothing, optics, treestands, blinds, etc. Save your money (if necessary) and buy what you really want once.
It'll save you a lot of money in the long run.
Trust me on this one.

Thanks I havnt shot either one of those models but the old Franchi I did get to shoot worked well. I did ,couple years ago, get one of the Versa max shotguns and I'm pleased with it. Haven't had any issues. Not sure what the price is on them now but got mine ,iirc, for $800.

Agreed. I live by the motto of buy once cry once. Ditto. I have a Franchi AL-48 20 ga, a few 3" 1100's (made a long time ago) a Nikko Golden Eagle 12 ga, a Browning Citori Special Sporting Clays 12 ga. and a few others. My next shotgun will be a SBE3.

I have owned some expensive and some inexpensive guns. They have all disappointed me at some point.
Currently shooting 1187 simply put I could buy 3 or 4 of these for cost of the other brands. Think I bought mine from rural king for less than 500 a few yrs ago. Typically you can find them anywhere.

Unfortunately, with Remington being out/in business, any Remington product is going to be a bit more difficult to find. The upside is, the 11-87 has been made for years and there are quite a few used examples available on the online gun store sites. A couple of months ago the prices were out of control, but that seems to have settled down some. Regardless, the 1100 and 11-87 were always two of my favorites. Here's hoping RemArms gets new guns in the gun stores before the Fall hunting seasons.

Guns, like cars, trucks, and motorcycles are all a personal or price preference.
Get what you want. Don't try to justify it to anybody. Somebody is going to have a negative opinion.

I recently picked up a SXP for a backup gun. We have plans to travel a bit this year like I used to when I was heavy into waterfowl and I refuse to without a backup. I traded an 835 I used for a backup several years ago for a mid 60's Western Auto branded 500A with a poly choke. As good as the reviews I hear from people with the SuperX autos, I'm hoping this pump shoots just as well. The thing feels great but it's way lighter than the 870 I live by.

Night before last I finally got to go out and put the first rounds through her. We had a range training/clay shoot for work. Between me and my coworkers she got about 100-120 round put through her. I was a little iffy as all we had to shoot Target Maxx and I know how (especially NEW) inertias can be with light loads. I am happy to say she ate them all with zero hiccups On a side note I got to shoot several guns and a couple positively surprised me. First, the Winchester SX4. I am not a gas guy but this gun shot well and is a good value. Finally, the Franchi Instinct SL in 16ga. It is a very light OU but MAN does that thing shoot. Points incredibly well for me and, other than the fact that all we had in 16 to shoot were stout hunting loads, was a pleasure to shoot. This is now me just sittin over here waitin on geese
