That is what the temp service is paying. The biggest problem is there is no set path or guarantee of going full-time.
Our workforce has been exhausted here. We pull people from a couple counties away and can not get enough people to fill the factory jobs we have. I said a while back that the best thing that could happen to this town is a factory close. Everybody at that facility that wanted to work could easily go to a different one making at least the same money and the stress of understaffing at the other factories would ease.

What is your unemployment rate there? Better yet what is the hard # of people unemployed? If I were head of your county's unemployment office I'f be taking a pretty hard look at those taking benefits.

You could make 42 k starting not a bad job for someone with no skill required and yet they probably won’t be able to fill the jobs
With some overtime and a raise or two in a few years a easy 50 to 60 k job per year.

I do know that it seems like every single business in town has a now hiring sign of some sort up.

A LOT of good jobs to be had if a person can pass a drug test and show up most of the time. I've not seen the company I work for drop too much on getting into the place but as far as attendance goes it seems they have let things slide a bit. There's not much in the labor pool.

My company starts at $16, $2 more for 2nd, 1$ more for 3rd. It's damn near impossible to get fired and yhe 7 point attendance system is somewhere around 10 at this point. We are shorthanded in every department, can't get people, can't keep people, and those of us who are trying to keep things operational are so stressed out we can't stand ourselves some days. Makes work real fun some days.

I have heard of places that have stopped drug screening. I think they found out most just quit for a while and after the test they started back up.

I'm going to stay for now, but my ears are open and I've been checking Indeed when I get the chance. Don't get me wrong, I've got a good gig and am paid well enough. It's the pressure, stress, and aggravation that are getting to me. Nothing is ever enough and I'm fed up with never being "off the clock." People just don't respect others' time anymore.
