Got my bird today nothing to brag about I was worn out from running up and down hills at HNF and a jake stuck around a bit too long. I thought he was a little bigger but ANYWAY.... I went hunting 5 times in some of the most tick infested areas I know of. I used permithrin and had zero ticks that I know of. I didn't even see a tick. What was your experience with them this year?

I picked on off my waist that I'm pretty sure transferred from the dog after his romp in the woods.
Supposedly he was treated last month.......

I have been in woods everyday none for me. Had a lady at school she and her sister went mushroom hunting and I dont know if they went through some sort of nest or what. She said one minute they felt one crawling on them and they looked and they were all over them. By the time they got to car they even had them under their sports bra.

When I moved to Bloomington I realized this area had more ticks than anywhere I had ever been before. The first spring here we probably found over 100 ticks between us and the dogs. I started using permethrin and it’s like they don’t exist anymore. Only issue I have noticed is it is just not effective anymore after one single wash. It says up to a few washes I believe, I even use cold water but, after that first wash I start to get a tick here and there again.

Are you saturating the clothes when you spray them and letting them fully dry? I'm getting a dozen washes.

I use permithrin 10 from rural king I mix I think 1.8 oz per gal (don't quote me on that i'd have to double check to be sure). I use a 32 oz spray bottle and do the math for the ratio for a smaller amount. I saturate and let dry for 3 or 4 days and (yes it stinks a little) I do not wash clothes either until I get my bird or the season runs out. What and how are you using?

I dilute 10% permethrin to a 0.5% concentration (the same as sawyers). Typically if I'm only spraying a few articles of clothing, I'll mix 1 ounce of 10% with 19 ounces of water. If I'm treating all of my hunting clothes at once, I mix 6ish ounces (technically 6.4) with a gallon of water for the same 0.5% concentration.

Last year was my first year using it. 0.5% didn't seem to be helping much, so I increased it to 1% concentration.
Normally, I might get 30 ticks on me if I worked in the woods all day. With pants sprayed/dried with 1%, and tucked into rubber boots, it cut it down to 1 or 2 per day.

Medic, I see, I double checked my ratio, I'm at 1.0%. Maybe my math is wrong but if you are at 1oz per 20oz of water would that be 5% not .5%?

I mix in a 32 oz spray bottle as well and haven’t had a tick on me while wearing my hunting clothes this season. That includes behind our camper where we always run into seed ticks. Stuff works great.

I got it off the internet and it works. If you're using a 10% solution like you said, that's where the extra decimal point is at. If you're using pure permethrin, then yeah it would be 5%, probably high enough to be uncomfortable.
