Hello everyone! I wanted to post the video of my son and I hunting this morning up in Pulaski County. The birds were silent this morning on the roost and after fly-down. Shortly before 9am I heard a faint gobble in the woods we were facing. I gave some calls but never got a response, until 20 minutes later when he lit up 150 yards in front of us in the woods. We were able to see him so we just laid off the call and let him do his thing. Surprisingly to us in the ground blind, a hen had crossed a several hundred acre field and was behind us. She yelped a few times as she walked in to assault my Dave Smith decoy and boy, that really got the long beard moving in.
In the video the shot happens abruptly, this is due to my son not wanting this bird to get away. On Saturday we had a hot gobbler that got within about 30 yards of us while we were running and gunnin' but as my son made a move with his gun the turkey saw him and was outta there before we knew what happened. So, that was not going to happen today....
