At 3,800 ft lbs of energy @ the muzzle, I'm sure it's a hand full to shoot. Wow.

Their information is incorrect. The article says the straight wall makes it legal in Indiana, but the 45/70 case length is too long for public ground use.

Yeah it needs trimmed ....some are already doing that. I am one that trims the neck to be public land legal, but with 358win. If the bullet has enough bearing surface, you still seat to regular OAL or as close as you can. Works good.

It has more neck left than the .358 Win, but not as much horsepower.

I don't know, so I'm asking, is there anything in the definition of a straight-walled case that says the case walls need to be parallel? Do they specifically exclude cases with tapered walls from what are considered to be "straight-walled"?

I'm not for sure but was under the impression that they were for the pistol caliber rifles. PCC pistol caliber cartridge.

Indiana defines legal rounds by case dimension, not by case design. 300 blackout is shouldered and a legal PCR.

Just quoting you because the way the quotation feature shows up, it could cause confusion. .357 diameter for rifles (though technically it's .355 for the 350 legend) and .243 for handguns.

I truly doubt a factory would ever be checked explicitly when said Gun is already labeled a “legal round”.

The seemingly endless criteria in our regulations is why it's so confusing for people. Just look at the 10mm and 40 cal. 10mm was made legal so a lot of people think the 40 cal is as well.

I know what's legal. I was only asking what the term "straight-walled" means - do the walls need to be parallel or can they be tapered.

That is why the 350 Legend has to be specifically named because it does not meet the legal requirements of a public land rifle round.
