The last three rifles that I have bought have all needed to be sent in for accuracy issues KSA .22 replaced barrel T/C Compass .308 replaced barrel Henry Single Shot .357 replaced rifle
Of course they were all under warranty, but its a hassle to get return ticket, box it up, and ship it out.
Is this really that widespread of an issue, or do I have an uncanny ability to pick a loser?

My "gift" seems to be limited to rifle selection. In other areas I make great choices. For instance, my darlin' wife has put up with me for almost 54 years.

What was wrong with the Henry? Just wouldn't group? I've been pretty tempted to pick one up since I gave my daughter my H&R.

What was wrong with the Henry? Just wouldn't group? I've been pretty tempted to pick one up since I gave my daughter my H&R. I was getting 2" - 5" groups off of a bench at 50 yards. Not good. My S&W 686 can do better. I just received the replacement yesterday, so haven't had it out yet. I bought this partly because my nephew has one in .44 mag, and it will shoot about 2" at 100 yards. Not bad for a PCR. Hopefully, my first one was an anomaly. I'll give a report after a little range time.

I've run into the same type of issues over the last several years. Some were fine, but some firearms wouldn't group, some wouldn't extract/feed well, some were just rough. Some I sent back for repair, some I tried to use and see if they would improve with time (some did, some didn't), others I just sent down the road.
I think it's just the nature of the beast anymore. Slap 'em together, send 'em out and repair the ones that people complain about.
With demand as high as it is, I would imagine it will only get worse.

Folks with new Marlins since Remington went bankrupt are in limbo. I hope my year old does not have any surprises. 60 rounds, so far so good. Now Ruger bought Marlin so maybe they will do warranty work someday.

Was able to get to the range with replacement rifle this morning. Much more pleased with the results.
Only shot at 50 yards, but with 180 grain cast & max load of 2400, holes were touching. it shot other loads acceptably but this one was the most accurate so far.
Next trip I'll stretch it out to 100 yards and try a few more loads.
Took a while, but I got a keeper now!
