Probably but a 100yards would be to far for a air rifle. With a good scope and practice I say most could hit the important spot IMO Tried to Google it but most info is for .177 or .22 air rifles.

I went with a 1000 for every answer I did....personally I believe they over thought what many may know IMO I did the same. Why would the weapon, apart from archery, make a difference on min ft-lbs. I thought it kind of stupid. Like others have said they flat out worded the question wrong. They should have added "at point of impact". I saw one projectile that went from IIRC 1600 fpe at the muzzle to 645 fpe at 100 yds. My answer varied, bouncing around between 1500 and 1800 fpe at muzzle.

Survey just completed. Some interesting questions for sure. I noted 122 responses to questions and it took me 26 minutes. Some questions, I preferred not to answer. None of their business IMO! "Record the lactation status of does"? Hmmm? And for the record, Yes! I would rather have a hat than a metal band!

In the past, I guided Mr. Airgun, Jim Chapman on some pheasant hunts. He astounded me with some of the big game he has taken with his Big Bore Air Guns! www.americanairgunhunter.com/

Haven't gotten my email yet, but im guessing the minimum caliber is an effort to gain public opinion on the use of 223 for deer. I know (not personal experience, grew up with a couple guys) a 22-250 will kill deer just as dead, quite quickly, and at some decent ranges daylight or dark. Iirc IL allows 22-250 I didnt think IL uses hpr...

Oh, just a few questions like the ones regarding my schooling or yearly salary! I'm not in a fit over the questions. I just preferred not to answer since they gave me that option!

I’d be surprised if they match up names with answers or even have that ability to.... but I get your point and concern.

Just did this survey. I thought all that muzzle energy question stuff was a bit much, but otherwise a pretty decent survey.
Much better than the one Purdue recently sent out. My mind was melting about halfway through it due to the dumb question format and I threw it in the trash.

I see it as a way to try to match personal experiences and satisfaction with wealth class. Is the average Joe weekend hunter trying to enjoy some time away from work and feed his family as happy about the ability to do that as the can afford any hunting trip they choose trophy rack chaser.

Still haven’t received the survey yet. I logged into my account the other day and made sure all info was correct. How often do you guys receive emails from the DNR? I get one occasionally..not often. I’ll go find it if I have to.

I went with a 1000 for every answer I did....personally I believe they over thought what many may know IMO I did the same, but in reality that figure is arbitrary @ best. Let's look @ handgun ammo... A 240 grain .44 mag load generates well under 1,000 ft lbs @ the muzzle when fired from a revolver, but we all know it's killed a lot of whitetail deer over the years. Other handgun calibers that miss the mark are, .357 mag, .44 special, 10mm, 41 mag (it generates more than a 1000 ft lbs @ the muzzle but quickly drops out of that range)., and .45 colt. Yet, all have been used to successfully kill deer when fired from handguns.
