Had quite a few lookers but not very many takers. I tried 2 jigs with everything I had - beemoths, red worms, minnows. Also tried the jigging rap with all three. There were a couple of guys close by and one of them kept moving spots and all he had were a couple of small perch and few small gills.

I got a picture of a customers pond that is roughly 70 miles East of Dallas Texas. He's standing on the ice in his 11 acre pond, and said that it was over 6" thick.
All the smaller bodies of water down there will have 10's of thousands of dead threadfin shad, and I'm expecting a large number of ponds to have their Coppernose Bluegills die out too.
If only that cold would go down through Florida, maybe it'd put a hurt on all the invasive species down there. Iguanas, pythons, etc.

Did a little steelhead fishing again. Caught about a dozen 6-10" little guys. Saw some big wakes so we must have moved a couple big ones. We didnt last long, with 14deg windchill and winds starting to gust ahead of our incoming storm. Fun to be out, and Luke had a heck of a time. Went there today and almost completely froze over.

Wow, that's a rarity!
Did you drill any holes or put up your ice shanty? 😂

Got a phone call from a customer. He pulled out over 500 bluegill from his pond so far this winter, and recently caught one that was 9" long and 9" tall. He's supposed to send me a picture. I did get a few pictures of a really nice Smallmouth and about a 13"+ Yellow Perch that he caught from the pond. He needs to take out a few hundred more Bluegills and he should take out a few hundred >10" Yellow Perch. He said this last week fishing has gotten tougher. I might take a trip to see him next weekend.

Wow, that's a rarity! Did you drill any holes or put up your ice shanty? 😂 No but all you would have needed is a ice fishing rod to cast from one side to the other. I forgot my shanty.

A neighbor that works at the water treatment plant in Michigan City said the coho are running up trail creek. Said he saw guys there use a jon boat to break up the ice and fished from shore.

Got on my buddies pond he just redid 3 years ago. Pulled over 40 plus gills and bass. Bluegill 8+ inches already. Threw them back, just felt good to be outside. Ice was 5 inches thick. Ohio co.
