There's nothing prettier than a walnut stocked rifle IMO, but when it comes to hunting in crappy weather, I tend to reach for my synthetic stocked deer rifle and take the walnut stocked rifle with me when it's a bit nicer or if I'm in a blind or shooting house.

Interesting. I`ll be very interested to see if this goes over big with hunters, or if it will just turn out to be another passing fad. I would guess passing fad. Bolt gun shooters are interested in the accuracy a bolt gun offers, and if they wanted rapid-fire, they`d just go with a semi-auto.

I like my Browning T-Bolt. Not much more than a quick back and forth movement. No worry about clearing the scope. This one looks like it would take a little more stroke. I too like walnut and blued steel.

Taking a page from the Blazer R8 book? This was my exact thought when I first saw it. The blaser has been out for quite some time. If I’m not mistaken it has an interchangeable barrel system like the encore but in bolt gun form.

When I first saw this, I started looking around for other straight pull rifles. This new Savage is very similar to a Heym SR30. The ball bearing system that holds the bolt in place when you fire the rifle, is (from appearances) very similar to Savage's new rifle. Here's a link to a video on the Heym sr30 www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-44H321Bsg
