Witness the end of a great many food chains and restaurants when they implement a $15/hr minimum wage. Customers won`t pay the costs associated with awarding a low/no skill employee $31,200 annually. It`s already crazy to eat out, and especially if you`re in a sit-down place where you want to tip properly for good service. These places will disappear, and/or, slowly dwindle away, all because low-skill people mistakenly believe they ought to be able to be middle class working a fast food job. Unbelievable.

What people make is honestly not my business, or the government's. Implementing a minimum wage in the flyover states equal to factory wages shows just how disconnected the people pushing for it really are.

When we left deer camp the monday after opening weekend, we went to the mcdonalds drive through in french lick. It took 4 attempts for the cashier (we will call her Methany) to get our order right.
Fast forward to this past saturday, I took the kids my mom and stepdad up to Mitchell to get our deer from the processor, then we swung down to wilstem ranch for christmas lights. The girls wanted mcdonalds so this time we went inside. I found out they had an ordering kiosk, wouldnt you know it, my order was entered correct on the first try.
This is the future.
A few years ago the healthcare system I worked for, raised its minimum wage to $11 an hour, this affected our EMT's. Without going into specifics on pay scales, this closed the wage gap between EMTs and medics, thus resulting in raises for the Medics, ultimately this all resulted in the cost of an ambulance ride increasing.
That health system is now raising its minimum wage to $13, the cycle will repeat itself.
I know the answer is the corporations take in less profit to pay these wages, but I live in reality. Automation is the real answer.

You ain't a kidding.
The other point is the value of a USD is lower than ever. Rent is higher than ever. Cost of vehicles are higher than ever. Cost of labor has to follow to sustain.

When did flipping burgers become a career job? Minimum wage type jobs are for teenagers, college kids, people needing EXTRA income, etc, not for providing a living.

Regardless of career or not I agree Govt should never set a min wage. It should be market based and let the companies compete vs telling a company what unskilled labor is or isn't.
Locally the min wage for part timers is 8 to 10/hr. They are competing for a lot of turn over slots.
At the factory they hire janitors at 15/hr. Just pass a drug screen and show up to work.
I would be interested how many companies that hire a lot of unskilled employees are paying min wage for more than a 60 days. I bet not many

All I know is, my wage better double from what it is now then too. Dont tell me that some flunky is gonna be making $10/hr less than me for flipping a burger, when I am repairing semi's. My job puts so many people's lives on the line every single day. Work my butt off sweating, freezing, straining, hurting, etc for peanuts. There will be a problem if this comes to reality. They will have to get a new flunky to do my job, and I will be pushing a broom or working the drive thru for easy money.

Automation is good for the end product as a whole better tolerances quality and the likes
But back when I was younger you’d go to work and 6 guys would be running 6 machines now it’s 1 guy running 6 and he’s drinking coffee and reading the paper just checking 1 out of every 100 units that’s a loss of 5 good or high paying jobs
The problem with raising min wage is somewhere that cost has to be made up so now a number 3 goes from 6 to 8 bucks and it’s the same regardless of employment it’s going to be passed on to you the end customer
People complain including myself about corporations take less money but again take a look at your 401 if you do have one a lot of it is GM Coke BK Wall Mart Pfizer and so on if they don’t show profits stocks will fall and so will your 401
I don’t have an answer but before COVID almost every store around here including BK McDonald’s Wendy’s Gas station had a sign in the window Now Hiring 15 per hour and they still could not get people to show up
