I hate the harnesses and tie-offs, which is another reason I quit using those stands. Sitting on the ground is pretty safe, especially since I'm sitting in a hole!
On my property I have an enclosed shack, 8' x 8' that is 4' off the ground, but I have a lawn chair in there as well as a cot to sleep in for the night before. I also have a coffee percolator and a propane camp stove to cook on. I'm really roughing it these days...L.O.L.

I have the lifelines with two prusiks on all my doubles, so each person is hooked in from start to finish. No way I’d let my son climb any treestand without being hooked in from the ground up. Do you have the lifeline just down the middle of the stand? They run on either side of the actual ladder when climbing, but once in the stand it is in the middle between us. I hunt them a lot by myself as well and thought they’d get in the way, but they really don’t.

I like the idea of sleeping in the shack - can't spook anything on the walk in in the morning if you don't walk in in the morning!
