I grind a 15-20 lb batch several times throughout the year. Whenever I run out I'll grind some more. I thaw the meat out to where it's just slightly frozen. I vacuum seal it and put it back in the freezer when I'm done grinding it. I haven't had any problems doing that way.

I just grind as we get each deer. That’s what’s done with most of it so I just cut into chunks as I’m trimming the meat.

When my buddy and I processed our own deer, we`d freeze our grind meat until we were done hunting for that season in big freezer bags, then just feed it through the grinder frozen. We never had the grinder head or screens plug up or the grinder overheat. Worked great.

I’ve frozen both the whole hind 1/4 many of times and cut in to roast steaks burgers never had a issue
When we went out west we had a chest freezer we’d run off a generator many of times we’d have 3 or 4 mule deer and lopes just 1/4 and frozen as we stayed two weeks out there
Use white trash bags stuff 1/4 in them one each way get air out tie or tape and put in freezer

I used to grind every deer, now I put it totes and grind it all at once at the end of the year.
Pluses - only grinding and cleaning once you don't have to take the time to grind right away during the hunting season.
minuses - it takes one longer chunk of time to do it You have to plan ahead and get the meat out of the freeze a day or two before you plan on grinding it can take a lot of freezer space to store. I currently have 4 totes of meat in the freezer waiting to be ground.
