Well my crew is on the board for 2020. Good bird numbers, great dog work, poor shooting. Lol
Did end the morning with 11 wood ducks.

Tried to get in at Goose pond but the 63 parties plus the reserve picks did us in and we didn't make the cut. Heard plenty of shooting until 9ish. Drove back through around noon and almost everyone had packed up.
* I should mention this was Saturday.

Hunted a main pool. |

Decided to fight the wind and rain yesterday and managed to scratch out my first limit in a long time. I could've been done 2 hours sooner but I passed a flock of shovelers to keep working a lone pintail who wouldn't commit.  |

Can you give inquiring minds a hint as to where you hunted at. Goose pond. There were only 18 parties, guess the rain and warm weather kept them away. I hunted the same unit last weekend so I had an idea where the birds wanted to be...out in the middle of an open area. If it wasn't for the kayak I wouldn't have been able to set up where I did. I barely had enough smartweed to keep from floating away in the wind. |

Dang sure not the best ducks. But we did shoot a 7 man limit of Ringnecks this morning in a hour.
Fun shoot and good dog work.

The boy child and I were at Monroe yesterday for the first time. Ended up choosing blind 7 in the dead middle of the marsh. Love the location, but that blind needs an enormous amount of work.
I realize we had to be seeing the same birds more than once, but saw over 1000 birds. Had well over 100 coming down in the air multiple times. Found out we can't shoot worth a crap. Discovered the guys in the blind behind us didn't want us to kill any geese because they took 100+ yard shots at birds almost 200 feet in the air. Found out that I can still run a goose call. 10 blinds full of guys and everyone at the check station on the way out said we were the only blind to get the geese to turn and come down, they seemed quite upset we were robbed by the barrel stretchers. All in all it was a good day. I shot my first ever ring neck and got a pair of gadwalls.
