So I recently bought a masterbuilt electric smoker. It was one of their lower end models and have really caught the smoking bug. What are some of your favorite brands/models/features? Looking to upgrade in the future but not wanting to spend 1500$-2000$

So I recently bought a masterbuilt electric smoker. It was one of their lower end models and have really caught the smoking bug. What are some of your favorite brands/models/features? Looking to upgrade in the future but not wanting to spend 1500$-2000$ It all depends on what you're using it for. I have 4 different "smokers." Each used for different things. I have the Masterbuilt electric smoker that I use for smaller cuts of meat when I want a hassle-free smoke. I have also used my Weber 22" kettle grill that works pretty well using charcoal. I then have a grill that a friend built out of an old 55 gallon drum that I use for big cuts of meat like brisket, turkey, etc. And lastly, I built an actual smokehouse that is 4'x4'x8' tall that I actually start a fire in the bottom of. My wife's family is serbian and each year we make serbian sausage. When we make the quantity that we do, you need something big. The one year we made 1200 lbs of the stuff. I was able to hang 250 lbs of it in my smoke house. It all depends on what you are needing/wanting in a smoker. My brother-in-law just got one of those Masterbuilt gravity-fed charcoal smokers and the thing is awesome. So easy and does a great job. Set the temp and it does the rest. If you are handy at all with building, I would look into building your own based on what you need. But again, it all depends on your wants/needs. Good luck and don't be shy about posting smoking pics on here!

I use a drum smoker that I built based on some I had seen on the internet. Just google "Ugly Drum Smoker" and you'll find lots of videos.

I built a propane smokehouse from tongue and groove pine. You can find plans online.

Just did a pork shoulder last weekend or 2 ago. It was 5 hrs cook time came out very tender. I did wrap it for last 2 hrs. My favorite pulled pork is to not wrap it but it is closer to a 10 hr cook time.

I prefer to leave on the bark and some fat when shredding the meat. Wife and kid prefer not much if any. So she cleans theirs up more, and I eat all the scraps.

Masterbuilt electric for me. Set it and forget it. I do think real smokehouses and charcoal/wood fired smokers have a much deeper flavor that you associate with a traditional smoked meal. We are finding we like minimal smoke more now. My unit is so seasoned, the flavor just absorbs into the meat on it's own. Lol

I will buy the same setup again without even batting an eye!
