This past spring I took my first Turkey ever, used a shotgun and I knew to just hit it's head.. yesterday as a target of opportunity I took one while out deer hunting, with my crossbow..
I got lucky, it hit near one hip & broke the other hip joint.. but managed to not break the gut any...
Where is the appropriate aim point if using an arrow for turkey ?

Base of neck, where wing bone attaches to body or texas heart shot while facing away and strutting.

Hunting turkey with a bow, you want that bird immobile as quick as possible. Turkey will leave very little blood if they run off or fly off. They will glide a long way if they get airborne and if they run off they will find the nastiest thicket to hide in. Hitting the gut on a turkey isn't like a deer. Deer may take 24 hours to die and you to recover. Turkey will be dead almost immediately and the bird will be dressed out very quickly.

Good point span, you run after a turkey immediately and you wait a deer out.

The ones I have killed i shot in this area with the bow and cross bow. Usually breaks the wing and takes out the lungs and heart. It doesn't damage any breast meat. If you can get it just under the spine it does alot of damage to vital organs. They will only go aboot 10 yards.

Old saying I have always heard is, shoot em high and watch em die, shoot em low and watch em go. I think a larger cut expandable broadhead cant hurt either.

Lol yes but ruptured gut means high salmonella risk.. i did at least have on hand a splitfire gobbler getter head .. a 3 blade mech that has a blunt tip so it doesn't just pass thru but knocks it hard... but since i used a crossbow it did make it all the way thru..
