Don't know if it should go here or in the crossbow section. Woody, move it if you want to keep the forum organized.
Anyway........
Shooting some new arrows/bolts in a crossbow. Factory. They say to shoot 400g minimum. With the supplied flat nock, they tip the scales (with a 100g field point) at 412 grains. I added illuminated nocks to 3 of the 4. Weight increased to 433 to 434 grains and the balance point moved roughly 5/8" further back.
Would going to a 125g point be OK or would I have to worry about the stiffness of the spine now? FPS is supposed to be in the 330 fps range with the 400 grain arrow. I will run them over the chronograph tomorrow - not enough daylight tonight.
At 50 yards the group size is around 2" or so..... (of course shooting from a rest, no wind)

If we were talking vertical bows, Id tell you to send it. Apparently every part of a crossbow bolt is a consideration in safety.
I'm not super familiar with crossbow spine, the Bolt manufacturer should have a spine chart. Are you shooting 22" or 20" bolts?
Again, recognizing that I'm not familiar with crossbows, if youre shooting a 22" and need more spine, you could cut the bolts down (if that is even possible).

What brand crossbow is this esshup? CamX 330 model, not the A4. camxcrossbows.com/ Supposed to be quieter than most crossbows, the A4 is supposed to be even quieter, but that is a discontinued model. Rumors are that they are coming out with a new bow in 2021, I'm planning on going to the ATA show in Indy this January to look and see what's coming for 2021. A very good friend is letting me borrow it since I'm constantly complaining about my noisy and crappy trigger Barnett Revolution. Don't get me wrong, it's killed a lot of deer but after 15 or so years it's time for an upgrade.

I have 125g mechanical broadheads ordered from Amazon along with a practice point and replacement blades. Stopping by a bow shop this evening to get 125g field points and possibly weighted washers to fine tune the arrows (exactly match the weight).
I know the owner and I sent her a text to see if they have the stuff I'm looking for in inventory.
I weight matched the arrows for the Barnett that I've used for years and that really improved the accuracy shot to shot.
