The past 3 weekends I did a solo squirrel hunt and a Dove hunt at Willow Slough and seen nothing. I couldn’t even find a spent shell casing or a feather. Oh well that’s hunting for you .

Just keep at it. You’ll get into some eventually.

You at least need to deer hunt a day or two. We need some more great stories from you.

Down here in Bloomington I’ve gotten at least one squirrel every time I went to the woods. Even when I was target shooting and causing a ruckus there was still a squirrel in the tree above that made a swift meeting with the ground.

I’m in the woods all camouflaged and sitting on my camouflage chair by 5:30 am watching and waiting and listening nothing for at least 2 hours before I get up and move to a different location and do the same . Then I completely move to a different unit and do the waiting game again .

I have tried early morning for squirrels a few times this year, turns out the ones in the woods I am in like to sleep in I guess. I went out twice at 5:30 to a spot I knew they fed at often, nothing but birds till about 10 and even then it was few and far between. This particular section I can go out two hours before sunset and come out of the woods with three or so. They just like the evening hours right now I guess.

I haven't been out in the mornings to compare this year, but I have noticed that when I'm shooting the bow out at the conservation club, I can normally expect to see four or five squirrels crossing the drive repeatedly to get to the row of hazelnut bushes and the cornfield across the drive from the woods. I've been there earlier in the afternoon also, but they usually seem to appear around five pm. Three grays and two fox squirrels. Took the time to check the evidence where I saw them most active, and there's sign of them in both the corn and the hazelnuts.

Mossberg you should know that Willow Slough is probably the most hunted and trampled state property in Indiana.
If that is where you want to hunt then you probably should find some obscure little corner of that property that is hard to get to so that you will be leaving others behind.

How's the hunting at the Hoosier National Forest ? That's only about a 5 hour drive one way ( it's actually a 4.5 hr drive without stops ) I believe that's in or near Bloomington Indiana

Hoosier national is a huge tract of land. There is some in Bloomington and it goes from there to the Ohio river in big chunks. You should be able to find some squirrels in there if that’s what you’re looking for. I have killed plenty behind our camper and that’s in Bloomington just off lake Monroe.

I don’t even own Camo if I’m being honest. I hunt Morgan Monroe forest, and Hoosier national forest.

I'm headed out in the morning for my last squirrel hunt before I start chasing whitetails. I'm hoping they'll be active in the morning

Beautiful morning out here. Very calm wind. Perfect temp. I bagged 2 in the first 15 minutes. I have relocated to the opposite side of the woods.
On my first set up (all of 2 minutes) a huge flock of black birds landed in the canopy above me. It sounded like rain due to all the excrement being launched from their back sides. I had to boogie out of there in a hurry!

I cleaned my squirrels and out them in the freezer. I gotta admit, for my first time cleaning squirrels, it could sure tell. I had watched a couple different methods on youtube and neither one worked for me. I definitely need more practice. I froze them in a bag of water

I froze them in a bag of water The only "easy" way to clean Fox Squirrels is to do it as soon as they are shot, and it's still not "easy" then. The colder they get the harder the skin sticks.
