Im back in the saddle againnnn 🎶🎶 Sitting in a new blind I got at tractor supply this week. It’s super roomy, quick to set up, and has adjustable windows that I think are pretty neat. I’ll post the brand when I’m home and think about it. Just under six hours left of shooting light.

When I got out here, the wind wasn’t doing what the good ol internet said it would be doing. I made a judgement call to put the blind out where I’d planned to since the wind was right for that spot. The wind made a shift, so I hiked around the field to my planned stand. It wasn’t until I had my stand in site that I jumped a deer. Good sized buck was bedded down 15 yards behind my stand! He took off toward the back of this thicket that ends 150 yards behind me. Thankful he didn’t blow and tell everyone , but not happy that he decided to bed here. Now to decide the fate of this stand. I believe I’ll pull it and reposition it at the edge of the thicket Edit: leaving the stand be. It’ll be a great rut stand, so I’ll just stay out of here til they start hounding does and moving around. Maybe I’ll see him at one of my other spots before then. Sure made me want a doe down lol

I had one doe with three spotted ones following her. Think I'm going to try to whack a few of them this year. I usually leave my girls alone, but I'm hunting for the freezer this year. I'm guessing that I won't pass on an ugly little buck either. He tastes good and just doesn't need to be passing on those ugly genes.

I’m on the board in the urban zone! Earn a buck doe is down! Right at last light she fed in to 30 yards. She ran 40 before tipping over! Right behind my house! Short drags are the best!

Live from a red lawn chair covered with a camo t shirt! I’ve got a camera that faces the corn on the outside of the woods , and pretty regularly see does walking down the lane. I decided to pick the path exiting the woods that’s beat down the most , and positioned myself in a spot where I can have a good shot if a lady tries to use the path. If I get a shot, it won’t be more than 10 yards. Wind is right, and the woods are alive with squirrels and birds. Here til dark.

If I brought the scatter gun out of the truck, I’d have hit my tree rat limit in an hour.
Zero deer seen this evening.

Signing in, hope everyone has been doing ok! I got into carp fishing to pass summer time. Patiently waiting for the 3rd week of October to start deer season, need some lower temps before driving the hour and a half to the woods. I see there is a jonsnowii is this the original Jonsnow?

If I stop looking at my crossbow case, and get it out, I'm thinking that I'll hunt once in the first week of Oct. They certainly aren't used to anyone being in those woods this year.

I finally sighted in my new crossbow. It's sweet. I like it a lot. Going to whack a ground squirrel in about an hour.
