Does anyone know why Tenpoint discontinued the Omni-cub? At least I think that’s what has happened. I can’t seem to find them anywhere. I trust the safety features of my Invader x4 but I still won’t carry it in or out of the woods while cocked, especially when I have one of the kids with me. I know the Omni-cub could get a bit pricey over time since they were one time use, but they were very handy.
So I guess the second part of my question is, for those of you who unload before climbing down from the tree, what’s your recommendation?

Take a bolt with a field point and fire it into the ground. I just remove bolt and lower down. When I get back to truck I fire into the ground.

I'm pretty sure the TenPoint quit making them.
I always shoot/clear my crossbow when I get home by shooting practice arrow in my backyard target. You can soot it into a ditch embankment too. There sre "discharge targets for sale too.
As for the raising and lowering my crossbow from the treestand. I just make sure it does not have an arrow in it. I leave it cocked and the safety on.

I learned my lesson about firing it into the ground to discharge it once. I did that and the bolt flat out disappeared. I dug down about a foot and still couldn't find it. The ground was damp.... I now bring it home and shoot a field point into the bag target to decock it. The bolt that I use was lost under the grass for a year, is missing one of the fletchings, and the field point is rusted to the insert.
