I’ve been dove hunting 3 times so far this year and each outing has been great. Our family owns a 160-acre agricultural field that we rent out to a farmer. This year was seed corn that they picked about a week before the dove opener which has made for great hunting. It’s got 3 irrigators on it and 2 small ponds which makes for great dove, goose, duck, etc. hunting. Two times out, I shot 12 and the other time I got a limit. I would post pics, but can’t figure out how to do it from my phone??? Lol Also, I got drawn for a pheasant hunt on Pine Creek GBA in Benton county this year. Looking forward to that. Has anyone hunted Pine Creek before? I have not hunted that unit but if you've never been drawn before you're in for a treat. I've hunted Benton co. before though, both times I went it was like the property you are on is an island of fantastic habitat in the middle of a sea of cut corn fields. If you have a dog bring it but if not find a partner who does. It's GREAT habitat but it's still a hunt no easy put-and-take birds here. Expect thick cover and uneven ground, put the wind in the dog's face as much as possible and look for the thickest cover. Please let us know how you do a lot of us put in for that and some have never been drawn.

Flushed 30 birds at once and it was one of the coolest moments I've ever had while hunting any animal. I'm looking forward to it!

Hey minni, keep us updated on your hunt.
I went one year with my grandson, and we had a blast! It was hard to get used to their speed for us since we'd never done it before, and of course, we were the worst hunters on the site ...that too.
A cool thing happened one day. We had a mojo dove on a pole. It worked good. We watched a hawk swoop down from the treeline in a beeline for a meal. Two feet from the decoy, he dodged it. It made for a good memory.

Went and sat in a few sunflower fields for the day, saw three the entire day but they were way out of range. Ended up borrowing my grandfathers 12g.

That is wonderful that you get out there and try.
I haven't spoken with you. Welcome! I'm new, but I'm really not. Let's say I'm just refreshed.

Pretty much done for now will wait and watch for migration days. Ended up a little bit better than last year. It's a long season with plenty of opportunities still to come.

Boy! ever since that first cold snap a few weeks ago there are NO DOVES around. I am beginning to think DOVES hate Indiana.
