I’ve never been dove hunting, or any bird for that matter really just squirrel and deer. But my uncle has invited me to a dove hunt with him next month and was looking for any tips, I’ll be using my 16g side by side.

I planned on it, pretty sure this gun has no choke so I’ve got a box set aside specifically for that hunt. Whenever I can find another place that has 16g shells in stock I’ll pick up another few. |

If your hunting on state properties you will need to shoot steel shot.
You will need a plug if the gun can hold more than 3 shells.
You will need a H I P card number.
And if I were you I would get out and do some trap or skeet shooting now.
DOVE HUNTING IS A VERY HUMBLING EXPERIENCE!

Get a five gallon bucket and get the seat that goes on top of it for use as a seat. Plus you have something to carry everything in.

Aim VERRRRRY far in front of them. Very true. When I was dove hunting with my nephew, he was swatting birds down effortlessly, and I just couldn't connect at all. He then told me to swing in front of the bird and try to MISS it by shooting ahead of it. You know what happened then... |

Don't stop the gun, keep swinging thru the shot. You can lead them all you want but once you stop its over, its a miss before you even pull the trigger. |

A MOJO dove or 2 will be a big help also.
It will make them slow down to look or want to land and feed.

You'll need more than a box of shells if you get into very many doves. I'd upgrade to a 12 ga. I tried to shoot skeet with a 20 ga and got my rear end handed to me.
