What a good time this would be. I`m hoping to actually finally do some squirrel hunting this fall after things have cooled down just a bit. It was squirrels that I cut my hunting teeth on, and what a fun, relaxed, low-pressure hunt. Not to mention, fried squirrel is awfully tasty!

Class starts:
Instructor: see those woods over there. Go walk in, see a squirrel, shoot said squirrel. Thanks for coming. I'm a bit confused on what they'd have to teach to hunt an animal that is literally everywhere.

Well it seems that mad dog is the only one that really seems to be able to hunt squirrels. He is a one man squirrel killing machine.

I think it be great for a younger hunter or new hunter to learn about safety cleaning cooking them I grew up in a home with no hunting I had to teach myself everything And it that was long before the net or hunting shows probably the closest I had was wide world of sports or books

I honestly don’t know why I started my grandma and dad loved to fish they both hauled me around to fish all the time I guess it is was just the love of the outdoors and the adventure that came with it I’d say it started trapping rats and coon and the likes when I trapped I started doing that tto make money at that time it was worth it and people almost always let you trap the ditch or creek and it grew from that At that time we still had a local guy that bought fur he showed me how to skin honestly I think he just got tired of the butchered up critters I brought him

Hunting: My parents did not hunt. Never taken out. Just down the road was the St. Franciscan school for orphan boys. Land of 181 acres. They cared for boys after WWII orphans and then other orphans after that. Place had a great lake and about 100 acres of hilly woods. About 40 or so of fields. My older brothers and I lived every minute when not in school. Franciscans paid out to shoot rats and that how it started. Crossman 25 pump BB gun (age 10 or so). Then our neighbor loved squirrels and rabbits so next game. She also loved turtle soup. Hunting the school was the 1st time every seen a deer. Saw them only once. When I was around 15 my parents bought 32 acres in East Enterprise, Indiana. That is when I started seeing a lot of deer and in 1982 I hunted deer with my brother. Took my 1st buck in 1985. Brother and I are the only 2 out of 5 boys that still hunt.
I was blessed and lucky. If it wasn't for the Franciscans and us boys loving the outdoors I'm not sure if my parents would have bought the farm in Indiana. There was about a 2 acre lake on the farm. Never once did I see either mom or dad fish. I think they bought it for us and for them to retire to. The Franciscans Brothers taught me everything. Welding, pipe working, carpentry, baking, farming and how to love everyone. Learned how to be patient and helping the orphans. Some had some real issues (mentally). I still use those skills I learned to this day.
