He probably forgot to tell you he is having me do it. How does your own access to the Kankakee River sound? Lol 🤣

The machine comes with an operator.
Next week he will deepen 1/2 of the pond then in a few weeks he will return with a dozer to spread the soil around.

Have him taper the banks from about 4' water depth to the high ground level no steeper than 3:1 and 4:1 or 5:1 is even better (although that means more dirt moved). That way there will be plenty of area for the fish to spawn in even as water levels drop, and if you want to you can mow right to the waters edge. Once down at 4' water depth, in clay soils, usually no steeper than 2:1, in sandy soil, no steeper than 3:1. 3:1 is about the limit of butt cheek pucker factor to keep you glued to the seat on the mower too. LOL
Once above the water line the dozer operator can do that slope a lot easier and quicker than the excavator operator.

Yesterday it took 4 times for the the voice to call for the name "Lynn". So basic. With my concrete like hands I'm been trying voice to text, but I agree it's bad technology.

That hill of spoils is about 100 yards long and about 30 feet wide and 8 feet high.

When he comes back with the dozer, can he cut/taper the banks down a bit to the waterline? That will allow you to walk and mow to the waterline, and it makes fishing in it easier too.

The dozer has arrived and is spreading the spoils from the pond, as he gets toward the end and is putting the finished grade down I will spread winter wheat seed and hope that some of it takes.
If the wheat takes it might help attract geese this fall/winter and if it makes a crop I will mow it down next August for doves.
