Finally caught one of the little stinkers this morning. I water boarded him for intelligence regarding where his buddies were hanging out.

I seem to have a few extras this year. I've always had them in the woods near the house but this year I've had a couple take up residence behind a retaining wall and in my wood pile. My neighbor said he has had a few extra this year also.

Number 34! As I was pouring my coffee this morning, I saw him sitting at the corner of my carport on a stack of blocks. I figured I might just try to gently sneak the dining room window open and get a shot. At 12 feet away, that might be tricky. Surprisingly, he just sat there. Perched and chewing up a maple seedling. Rested the bone stock American Classic on the window sill: PING! Lights out with A Gamo Hunter .177 to the head! Unfortunately, I've got a ton more running around. I just haven't been home lately to get after them.

One thing good it's keeping your shooting sharp.

Well, you have enough now for a fricassee! Haha! I had to look that one up! Either it's been too long ago, or I slept through that class!

Have you tried trapping them?

Have you tried trapping them? The majority of my chipmunks have met their demise via the live trap. Peanut butter and oats! Not only on the trip plate, but also on the inner roof plate above it. I read about that trick online and I’ve actually seen it work a few times. The chipmunk reaches up to the roof and then triggers the trap!

I would be tempted to buy a 1 lb can of tannerite and a bag of sunflower seeds to place at a safe distance from the house. It would be like those texas hog videos on YouTube but just a lot smaller scale.

We also have seen some this year where we have never in the past. Rat trap has taken care of some neighbors cats a few more.

No more chipmunks. Big Redtail hawk has been hanging around the last couple weeks.

With all my work, I haven't been home enough to stay on top of the chipmunks. While mowing the other evening I saw 3 running about. Time to set the live trap for the evening. Number 39 for the year: Then I noticed something kept tripping the trap and no critter inside. wondering if it might be a bird or maybe a mouse, I seta mousetrap nearby. In no time it sprung. I believe this was a shrew:
