We have been planning a trip to Panama City Beach Florida for a while, leaving Sunday. With the "spike", I am having second thoughts. Anyone have experience with beaches up that way?

I was going to head out West again to Glacier National Park, but with the spike and I am primary care giver for my 80 year old mother it is not worth it.

We were going to head south this Summer as well, but with the virus I think we're going to pass (at least for now).

I am just north of Jacksonville Florida right now. Been here since Friday. Went to the beach yesterday and it was packed. We cancelled spring break in March. Wasn’t letting this spike keep us away again. As of 5pm last night masks are once again mandatory in Jacksonville when going inside places. We haven’t actually been into Jacksonville yet, but may venture that way today or tomorrow.
As far as Michigan beaches. My wife’s family had a place in sawyer for a long time. That beach was nice and that water is cold. Also went to a beach near St joe a few times and it was nice as well.

One of my favorite beaches is at Wilderness State Park, near Mackinaw. The park itself is fine, the reason I like the beach is that the water was clear and shallow a long way out. You could be 100 feet from the sand and still be waist deep. This meant that the water was very warm out in the sun.
I've also swam at Indiana Dunes S.P., and the water got deep pretty quickly as you got away from the shore. That water was cold, even in August.

Lot's of beautiful beaches on Lake Michigan and if you know your way around a bit there are many you can hike in to and have nearly all to yourself.

I like the beach and lake front hiking trails of TWO RIVERS, WISCONSIN. Sleeping Bear dunes and the entire area near TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN. Both of these locations have great food options.

Great spot to harvest Petosky stones too. For Lake Mi the water is warmer. BTW you swim in fresh water and don't have to worry about sharks. TIP put several clean Petosky stones in a canning jar. Fill with boiling water. You can enjoy them that way for several years. I was in Alpena then went to Macinaw then to my sister's in Petosky 2 weeks ago. It was like being up there in September. Their tourist business was way down. Take masks as you are required to wear them in resturants when not seated. Their campgrounds are open as are the beaches BUT the restrooms were closed. There are several nice beaches on the inland lakes. I do not know about Wisconson. Where my brother lives the resturants were not open.

My inlaws live in Lake Co, near the Dunes. In over 23 years of going to their neighborhood beach, I can’t think of too many times I thought the water was comfortable and enjoyable to swim in. Just my opinion.
