I started with all Anderson lowers, stripped, built from there. A buddy put 2 together for me, I did the 3rd. Super easy. YouTube is your friend. Palmetto State Armory had complete lower parts kits for complete build for $100. $40 for lower, $250 for BCA upper. All of mine have cost around $350, piecing together. Easy as pie.

So, with this "lower" (I see they are out of stock) you just buy an "upper" and put them together and way you go?

Looks like all their AR stuff is "out of stock". I wonder why? .

Probably cant make them fast enough. Gonna be a bad day when liberals think they are gonna take them away. There are a LOT out there.

I almost pulled the trigger on that Anderson lower, but didn’t, yet.

Bought a stripped Anderson lower a few years back. Seems to work as good as anything else.

Pretty sure NO. My buddy has one and said the pins are spaced different so you cant switch.

Thanks for the help. My FFL guy said this was a good deal but I missed the Anderson. I added it to my wish list.
Dunhams says they have the DPMS in stock. I may just go ahead and get it instead.

Woody, This is a common question, and the answer is as clear as mud. The answer to your question is yes, and no. Yes, you can unpin a .223 upper and pin on a 7.62x39 (AK47 food) upper, or a .300 Blackout, or a 6.5 Grendel, or a .204Ruger... and the list goes on. There is a new Hornady round called the 6mm ARC (Advanced Rifle Cartridge) that stays supersonic out past 1000 yards! Now, if you want to jump up to .308Winchester, or 6.5 Creedmoor, or .30-06, or .243 Winchester... then you'll need to jump up the the AR10 platform. There are 2 major "platforms" when it comes to AR10's. They are the Armalite pattern, and the DPMS pattern. The DPMS pattern is by far the most prolific. Much easier to find matching parts. For the AR10 platform you MUST use the same platform parts throughout the build. For most every AR15 platform, you can frankenstein the parts from just about any manufacturer into a workable firearm. BTW- the "AR9" is an AR15 sized lower receiver with either a purpose built mag well, or uses a mag well insert to convert to 9mm. Any other questions about AR's, don't hesitate to ask.

Should have looked at the link before I posted. MOST AR15's can swap out uppers. A lot of .22lr AR's are proprietary receivers, however, if you buy a .223 AR15 you can always get a .22lr conversion kit for that. All you need is a new bolt and a new magazine. Barrel is the same.

The way I understood the question is, can you put a centerfire upper on the S&W 22long rifle, purpose built gun? NO

Woody If you want one in 22lr get one purpose built for 22lr. The adapters for the AR are not that good. IMO
