I know I should support my LGS but as I was walking through Wal-Mart today I noticed a camo 870 in the cabinet. I have been wanting to get a smaller 20 ga for turkeys but haven’t been able to find one and really didn’t need one. Well wouldn’t you know it was a camo 20 ga 870 Compact with a 21” RC barrel and it came home with me. I am going to consider this a gift from Trump and the stimulus money.

Nice grab.
I toted my boys youth 20ga M500 a couple times. Super handy! It's all my buddy has used for years, and it works!
We have a project underway. Bullseye69 threaded a short 12ga slug barrel for a choke. We are gonna try my Indian Creek choke, and see how it does compared to the standard length barrel. If it works out, I am gonna have mine done, and be on the lookout for an adjustable stock.
Will post up results and progress.

I picked up the same model just for turkey hunting this year. Love mine! Short compact and a Carlson choke tube puts the shot right where you want it! I lugged around my old 12 ga for years, bought my kid a wood stock 20 ga 870 last year and thought “Man, that would make a great turkey gun.” I couldn’t bring myself to take that gun because I didn’t want to scratch up the gun I got for the boy so I bought my own, 870-20 ga youth model with a synthetic camo stock. After carrying the 12 ga forever the 20 ga is awesome!

That’s the same reason I have wanted one. Both my sons still use their youth 20s for turkey and kill them just as far as my 3.5” 12ga. I am going to try and keep it bead only but with my aging eyes I may have to put a low profile red dot on it. I don’t want the extra weight of a saddle mount so maybe drill and tap and put a weaver base on it?

My buddy has a synthetic saddle on his. Not sure on brand. He has a shotgun scope on it, and it's still a huge improvement compared to full size gun weight and handling wise.

Nice purchase. You can't beat an 870. They are a workhorse of a gun.

Let me save you some money and time. Remington factory extended extra full choke and longbeard xr's in 6 shot. It'll take some online looking until you find the choke. Thank me later.

Will you people stop buying the youth 870s? I've been looking for a combo with wood furniture and can't seem to. Everybody has the synthetic. I want it for in-blind hunting turkey and deer.

I thought about the combo just figured I’d buy the slug barrel later. You might try ordering what you want from a gun store, it may take some time to get in but you’d have it in time for deer season I’d think.

I tried several different places last year and the only thing they could get was synthetic. I put it out of my head and figured I stumble on one somewhere.

If I'm gonna settle for synthetic I can get another brand for half the price.

My son killed all 5 of his birds as a youth with a 870 in 20 gauge.. I did add an adjustable stock so he could use it as he grows
