That didnt take much to get her going. Hope it continues. Great looking gun btw!
Nothing worse than a gun you aren't confident in. Have had a couple over the years that didnt cooperate for one reason or another. They all went down the river.

I'd suggest not crimping the ammo and figuring out if the gun likes to be wet, or if its the ammo crimp. No point in continuing to crimp if its a lubrication issue.

For the amount of money you spend on a new gun burrs should not be something you have to find and fix. Looks like Kimber is still having issues

Well, I just got off the phone with Joe from Kimber. Super friendly. Ended up we have some mutual friends near Tuscaloosa! After almost an hour conversation, he had everything in order for me to ship the gun to them and they’ll check it out! I guess I’ll see what happens from there!

Having received 2 emails with boxing instructions and a UPS shipping label from Joe at Kimber, I sent the gun out on Tuesday morning. Twas a very simple process! So far, that has been impressive! Now, we’ll see about a response/report/remedy!

I received an email from Kimber, Monday evening with a UPS note that the 1911 is shipping, has been repaired and I should have it by the end of the day Wednesday.I also received a call and voice message from Joe telling me to expect the shipment. The email return authorization shows a document that says the gun has been repaired but no specifics. I will try to give Joe a call and see what I can find out. My guess is there will be some accompanying paperwork. I’ve been traveling with my work schedule. I should be back late tonight or early tomorrow and hope to have more details then.

The Kimber is back. Plan to hit the range later and see how she runs! What was the problem? So maybe I wasn’t super clear in previous posts. Based on some feedback here and me pondering the fact that I had to crimp the ammo to make it run, I just had some doubts. One day, I just thought, what the heck, why not give Kimber a call and get their opinion. When I got a hold of Joe at Kimber, he convinced me that it was absolutely necessary to send the gun in. He said there is no way I should have that many problems shooting factory ammo. He convinced me they would take a look at the gun and take care of it. Now, I’m about to find out if their service and repair was successful...

Awesome! This baby is rockin' through the ammo something fierce! Interestingly enough, I was surprised how "wet" this gun was when I opened the case. Joe at Kimber told me that it needs to be run REALLY WET!!! Just like a bunch of you guys said. This was a great way to see how they had lubed and oiled the gun for me: Here is the note that came with the returned gun: On the one hand, I agree with dbd...a high priced gun like this should not have such issues. On the other hand, I knew I was taking a risk on this trade. But, I just had a feeling that once I talked to Kimber, they would make things right. I've actually had a great time talking with Joe at Kimber on multiple occasions. So much, that we'd like to meet up if I'm down that way in the future. Back from the range now, I shot a box of PPU and a box of S&B which previously showed ~6-8 failures to feed per box. Today, she ran flawlessly! I called and talked to Joe because I was curious about the size recoil spring that was replaced. He confirmed for me that it is a new, 18.5 lb spring. In todays world, I must say, it is quite a pleasure to get such a quick response and great customer service!

While I was at my buddy's range this weekend, with the main intent on sighting in my Patriot 308, he and I switched off shooting the Kimber Rapide in 10mm. Another 100 FMJ rounds. A box of 20 Hornady XTP, JHP! And a box of 20 Sig Sauer Elite V-Crown, JHP! We shot right handed, left handed, limp wristed. You name it! We were purposely trying to get a failure of any sort out of this gun! I'm quite pleased to say she is running absolutely great. 100% ON!!!
