This has probably been discussed here several times, I like smoking with apple wood. Are you using pellets or chunks for flavor? I use fruit on pork fish chicken Apple is dang good but I use peach got a place to get it when he trims up his trees I like harder like hickory oak on beef I have a gas smoker I run in the winter outside does take a bit more gas but can hold temps if the weather is mild I do it in garage and just leave door open

How many bags of chips = one pork butt? Also, ever try a beef brisket? Soak your wood in water will last a lot longer I don’t think I’ve used a whole bag yet I smoke heavy a few hours at a colder temp once meat reaches a temp or time it no longer takes smoke. I do add wood just enough to keep a bit of smoke but the last hours it’s more heat than smoke But that’s just how I do it lots of different ways I’ve seen guys smoking hard all the way till done wrapping in foil with juice

Loaded question. Lol. Sometimes I pour beer in my chip bowl to soak a little. My smoker is very efficient, so a little goes a long way. We dont care for heavy smoke anyway, so it works good for us.

So not the greatest day hunting but, I did smoke a turkey breast all day while I was out. I used straight pecan wood.

went on this AM deer Summer Sausage with cheese this batch is mild I’ll give a good share to mom and my BIL for hunting on her and his ground neither one likes hot stuff that much I’ll cool it off today and slice it tonight or tomorrow and vac pack 15 or so per package bit costly for bags but it is nice you can pull a bag out eat it instead of trying to eat the whole stick in a few days
