This might more properly belong in the archery section, but I thought the campfire could use a break from Corona. At any rate I beg your indulgence. This might jog a memory or two..

Sas - that's just a plunger button, not the entire rest. It would bear against the side of the arrow closest to the riser. It needs another part to support the arrow from below.

Yep, That is what we called a Berger Button. Named after the inventor Vic Berger. He was the first “finger shooter” shooting a recurve to shoot a 300 on a PAA round. He was a shooting machine

The extension you thought had a “tuning purpose” is just a way of keeping the cables out of the string and arrows path when you shoot it.
Glad that you put the safety glasses on as some old bows go “boom” when you draw them.
It’s neat that you are reviving a piece of archery history.
Thanks for sharing.

Ill take the old timers word for it, though I still find it odd two of my relics have the exact same thing on it! Everybody losing their rest parts. Thanks for the tip. It was a pain to remove, I know that!!

They do a poor job of holding the cables clear! Very little clearance. If I had a top mount cable guard, if you remember those, I'd have put it on. The knob on the extension we are talking about is knurled, and there is a lot of extra threading. It sure looks like it was meant to let out the cables some, but I confess I do not know 100%. You are probably right. I'll try to get a picture on here. I have also seen old pictures of the same bow that depict something like a knob sticking out of those threaded holes where limb adjustment bolts would normally be. Do you know what those were? The limbs are just one solid unit with the riser, so I can't figure what they were for.
