I don’t believe a half-hearted approach to this virus is going to work. I believe a fully enforced shutdown for as long as it takes is the only way to eradicate this virus. It seems like common sense is a rare commodity these days. Take our lumps and then get back to work. I’m in the process of drafting a living trust for my wife and I if things go bad, from what I read I don’t think either of us would fare well if we got it. You are absolutely right. It will take all of use working together to stop this virus. Now I'm responding to everyone on this site, not just blackmuthcur. It pains me reading posts in this thread where people deny the seriousness of this pandemic. Even when the President says it's bad they still don't want to believe that it's bad and then want to blame the media. People are dying and can't breathe because they are drowning in their own bodily secretions. Tell you what, Try holding your breath and see how long you can do that! Imagine dying when you can't catch your breath. Then maybe you will understand just how serious this is. This virus is just taking off in the USA. And its' will get a lot worse. We can't cure this yet but we can slow down the spread to others if we practice social distancing for a while. Stay away from other people and avoid direct contact with other people. If you and all of us do this it will slow the spread and help our hospitals out.

Or just do what ya want, go see your parents, go to the movies, go out to eat , kiss your kids goodnight. It’s probably just a left wing liberal media conspiracy anyways! Is that better?

While I am still able to do some work, I have no interaction with people, the closest I was to a person today was about 20 feet. That's the way it will be for me during this lock down, work when possible providing I don't have any interaction with people. Don't need fuel for the truck, don't need gas for the saws. Don't need groceries.
I might need to go out and get stuff for Mom if she needs it, but me going out is better than a 90+ year old woman going out.

Temporary win for the Democrats and china, we got trump to turn it around. Your beloved Obama let a 1000 die before he did anything remember that.

As with most things, there are positions between the extremes that make the most sense. And as usual, the government may miss the most sensible ones in their effort to issue one order to fit everyone.
I try to reduce my trips to the stores as much as I can, and try to miss the crowds when I do. I went today, the crowds were small and the shelves were stocked much better than my last visit about eight days ago. That time, I neglected to wipe the cart handles down, thought of it this time, after pushing an empty cart someone had abandoned in the lot without putting it in the collection corral. Thought about my mistake about halfway to the entrance doors, and when I got inside I wiped the handlebar down and then pulled another wet wipe and wiped my hands down. A greeter was there also wiping down the other carts as they were returned. Forgot to wipe the nozzle last week when I stopped for gas. I'll get some sanitizing wipes and keep them in the truck so I can do that next time, but that will likely be a month from now, as I don't drive much these days even when there's no restrictions in place.
Looked at the Walmart site for info about using their curbside pickup service, but it appears to require a smarter phone than my old flip phone, so I may have to either take the plunge and join the majority of folks with smart devices that won't fit in their blue jeans and that run down twice a day. Mine seemed smarter to me at the time I got it. But I have been tempted at other times to get one of the big-screen ones (wonder if they make a man-purse in camo?).
So far postponing or cancelling all other face-to-face meetings and gatherings, or substituting phone contact for the actual visits. But if I hear about any more morels being found early this season, I may take the gov up on that invitation to take a walk outside, but start it about ten miles down the road and do my walking with my mushroom stick in hand.
