I want to look again after my last turkey hunt of the season on Saturday,but I have no ideal where to look usually. What's the Readers Digest version of where to look for morels? Downed trees? Along creeks? Where else? Old oak trees and crab apple trees. I think any old fruit trees. A lot a compost like rich soils. Lots of leaves etc. What about creeks? Are creeks a special place, or not necessarily so? |

They are about done here in Cass county, picked a few yesterday. It's been a real good season, picked and ate all we wanted, took several friends to get some, gave some away, and even froze several pounds to have at Christmas time.

Shrooms should be popping up tomorrow. Will pick one 5 gallon bucket and that will be enough for the season for me. Loaded with tick repellent!!!!

I wonder if the morels will return in this weather. low 50's to low 60's with inches to foot of rain the last 3 days.

Only found 83 grays and blacks after checking 3 of my spots..VERY dry in the woods here. We need rain. |
