Found a few today. Gonna check on them in a couple days hopefully they grow. How do you guys find them so small? I can't even find the big ones...

These were my first ever grays. At least I think they are grays. I noticed they are much harder to spot than yellows of the same size. Seem to blend in better. This is the Fort Wayne area and I was surprised since I've been hearing about people finding nice yellows in the area. Maybe this woods is a late bloomer.

I thought I would just take a peek around not expecting much till maybe Saturday or Sunday and I ended up finding a nice lil mess with hardly any effort.
I hope this is a good weekend for them.

Headed out this morning to take a gander. I never really have many, not that I've found, in my woods but, enough for at least one good mess.

This year for me was the worst season I have ever had. I usually find enough to sell and pay all or a good part of my lease bill for the ground we lease to hunt. I barley found enough for a couple of meals this year. I been hearing the same from most in this area.

How do y’all put shrooms away? Freeze? I looked up a way and the guy breaded them then put them on a cookie sheet in the freezer then bagged them. Does this method work? Thanks

I soak them in water while swishing them around a few times, then slice them length wise, drain and dry on a paper towel.
Put a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet or just put them on the cookie sheet and freeze. When frozen pop them free and store in a zip lock bag. I am eating the last of my 2019 collection today.

I want to look again after my last turkey hunt of the season on Saturday, but I have no ideal where to look usually. What's the Readers Digest version of where to look for morels? Downed trees? Along creeks? Where else?

Along creeks? Where else? Old oak trees and crab apple trees. I think any old fruit trees. A lot a compost like rich soils. Lots of leaves etc.
