I was off today so I went out for a little scouting and had one gobbling good on the roost! He flew down with 3 hens and strutted around gobbling with them for a couple hours before I left for home. Gives me hope anyway!!!

greetings Well the first shoot has put out word that it is not going to shoot this coming season and probably wont open again. Real sad If all this years shooting is all cancelled to save human lives then believe me i would be disappointed but i am ok with that. It is the keepers who i feel so sorry for it is there livelihood that is at most risk.
These Emergencies bring out the best in people, but also sadly the worst selfish attitudes one could only imagine until an emergency actually happens. Had my eyes opened i can tell you. regards to all Billy.

Stopped at the church yesterday and heard at least one gobbling. Then walking to the truck this morning at 0930 I heard a couple of gobbles.

About every other day the turkeys gather and the two older Tom's try to out do the 3 younger Tom's. Hens joining in from all directions. It's fun to watch. 5 Tom's and 7 hens. All that is left from the group of 50 about 5 years ago.

Scouting from kitchen table this morning. Must have been a hen in creek or on other side. This is him giving it his best shot. Checked over in the field. There was a group there strutting away. Gobbling all day yesterday.

Ended up in a new spot on property I've hunted for 25+ years. Found 4 gobblers, 2 singles and a pair with hens. Had one come down the hill past us and fly across the creek to get to the group of hens with the pair. Found 1 black mushroom and a pretty nice shed.
Good morning.

Turkey behind work has been gobbling for almost a week now. I hear him back there every spring. I also have a few nice birds on cam and saw one strutting like crazy a couple weekends ago while out checking cameras.

I went out yesterday AM at first light. Heard zero gobbles. I know there are a few birds around, just need to pin them down.

I haven't heard gobbling yet but, the big flock that winter's across the street is definitely breaking up and they're scattering out pretty good now. I'm getting a single tom on this ridge top where I placed a new camera Friday on a daily basis. No real pattern though. He's there between 9am, 1pm, 4pm and just after 6pm last night.

Well went to one of my farms the other morning.. wasn't sure if the birds would be there due to the amount of work on the surrounding farms and this farm had a tile put right thru the middle of it... As dawn approached I heard a hen, then another.... then..... GOBBLE... GOBBLE..GOBBLE... ended up being 5 different birds in the woods gobbling... My Reduction spot I have birds all winter and so far this year.. a real big tom too, however I have not seen them last couple days, but still hoping they are just quiet or on vacation.. My Dekalb properties are looking great ... So I am very happy to have options.. hope we have a great year

I have a phone appointment with the cardiologist in the morning then headed to find the easiest path to the birds we found last weekend. Should get there 2+ hours after they flew down and walked off so hopefully won't push them out.
I'll find out if they are vocal past roost and group up this trip. They seemed to just follow the girls last weekend.

I heard some gobbling this morning on the northwest side of my property. I'm afraid it's going to make time before season march even slower now. Lol

Went scouting a couple days ago. Nothing on my camera but found some tracks. One pic I did have on camera was a guy in full logging gear giving me a thumbs up. He cut a bunch of small trees around my natural blind I put together this last fall. Still hopeful. Seen a lone hen on the drive further back past my area. On the way home a Tom ran out in front of my truck but he took flight and avoided getting hit. Pretty cool since I had the family with me. The boys now have seen a turkey fly with their own eyes. Lol.

Been a really good weekend

No gobbling this morning but, I have heard that if a bird goes to bed wet, he won't gobble in the morning. Idk about that. There's turkeys behind my house this morning again though. Also, this tom went to bed pretty late last night. Almost 7:30 CST and he was still on the ground. I wonder if he got spooked out if his tree or if he was just running behind.
