My buddy mentioned wanting us to hunt with crossbows for turkey this spring. I`m hesitant to do this since with the crossbow you shoot them through the really only edible part...the breast...

Actually, they say a rear on shot with an arrow is good. I shot a hen while deer hunting 24ft up in a stand. It was a Rage broadhead shot thru and it pinned her to the ground.

From what I have read over the years (a lot), that might be tough to get to fly straight from a med to fast xbow. They also have a Turkey Tamer or guillotine, iirc, maybe other name, that is about 3" dia that does work good.

I just opened the link, and it was the Magnus Bullhead I was thinking about. They have arrow kits, but only show for vertical bows.
Those FOC's are awesome. I know some guys using them have opened deer up like a sword was used.

I have quite a few of the bullheads and the arrows. One of these days I’m gonna chop some heads.

I've been lucky enough to take several turkeys with my crossbow over the years and one thing to keep in mind is that turkeys are hard to "drop in their tracks". Like a deer, they have up to 20 seconds of life in them after being hit. In that 20 seconds they can run or worse, fly a good distance before falling dead. So, if you want to "up the odds" in your favor spend $6 and he won't be able to run or fly! Go to bass pro.com and order the 6-pack of "Vista Small Game Adder Points". It goes behind your broadhead and rips a wound channel that crushes bone, feathers and flesh. Good luck out there, BOB
