I was blessed with a wonderful new job opportunity back in August and it has been a great company to work for so far. I can honestly say I love going to work everyday. However, I am on the road a lot. I have a territory that spans northern Illinois and northern Indiana as well. With that being said and turkey season fast approaching, I am considering taking my gear with me and when I have the time, trying to squeeze a hunt in. I don’t know much about the northern Indiana properties, though, as I’m used to hunting southern Indiana. I’m not asking for anyone’s sweet spots or secrets or anything like that. I’m just wondering if there’s any turkeys on some of these northern Indiana properties. I have a lot of projects around willow slough, Tri-County FWA, Salamonie, and a few others. So if anyone can just give me some insight as to whether there are decent numbers of turkeys around these properties or if I would be wasting my time.

There are turkeys for sure. All the FWA are by draw only up here though, and hunting stops at noon CST. I have been picked several times, only hunted a couple because I got my bird prior to the draw hunt. Be that as it may, I never have killed one during a draw, and it's only been there at Kingsbury. Winimac has a much better population, but same draw only. Good luck.

I live down the road a bit from Kingsbury and we do have a pretty healthy population around here. Some years I’ll have 30-40 out in the backyard pecking for bugs I guess. They roost in my woods a lot, way up in the trees.Even had hens put their nests down in my garden before, I don’t really bother with them but see em a lot on the trails with the game cameras.
