Too expensive, too crowded and I have never bought anything. Same. The cost to park and enter erased any cheaper products. If in the market for big ticket items it may be worth it If you're ever in the market for a new boat or camper it is nice to compare models, prices, and dealers. It's also nice if you're considering hunting and fishing trips to be able to get loads of information in one place.

Found this on the fairgrounds website: Being the rebel I am, I emailed them and asked about their knife policy. I received a prompt response, in which they told me that any knife with a blade more than THREE inches isn't allowed inside the Boat, Sport and Travel show. I would presume that really means inside the fairgrounds. Not sure if I`m still going to go at this point or not. I was already ticked that my pistol is prohibited, and I don`t like being disarmed. IF I still go, and that`s a big if, it will be my last time, and I`ll be looking for a way to let the vendors know what fairground policies will make me stop going. As for leaving a pistol in a locked vehicle, I think that's an awfully irresponsible thing to do. Vehicle break-ins aren't uncommon in the parking lot at the fairgrounds.

I would assume fishing tackle booths sell filet knives so what happens if you buy one. I was there about 15ish years ago and it was not bad then. I also displayed my b&c buck one time but recieved a free parking and 1 day pass for 2. With the talk of the cost to attend now I will not be going again. That is the same reason I quit going to the Fort Wayne gun shows at the Coliseum WAY WAY to much to park plus get in fee equaling $25+ (that was a few years back)for two just to walk and look. Not worth it. Sport, vacation and boat show, same thing. I can not justify or afford a $55,000 bassboat,$250000 camper or a $10000 hunt/vacation. It was nice to go look but just getting in is even out of my justifiable price range any more.

I signed up to work the Hunter Ed booth Thursday morning. Figured it would be the best day for me with less people at the booth and a smaller crowd to navigate once I'm done. Could you report here what the security if any are doing for folks coming In the door when you go on Thursday am. Hate to see folks not go over what they think MAY HAPPEN!

Don't get me wrong, I have had some good times at the show and I enjoy a lot of the exhibits, but taking young girls, walking in the huge crowd leaves a lot to be desired. P.S. I will probably go this year! LOL!

Last time I went to the deer expo my kids were in a stroller and that was nearly impossible on the Saturday afternoon. They are 11 and 14 now, so that’s been a good while. Quit going to the boat/camper show as well because that’s cost me two boats and two campers.

Certainly. Especially if I have to make a walk back to the truck.... Any updates? I won't have any until next Thursday, opening day of the Deer Turkey Waterfowl portion of the show. That's when the Hunter Education Association has a booth.

Boat and travel show is, as well as the motorcycle expo. The D&T show and the motorcycles switched weekends 5 or 6 years ago I think.

A few years ago going to the Rt. 66 dragstrip in Joliet I was turned away at the gate because I had a pocketknife that was held in m pocket with a clip. I walked 150 feet into the parking lot, dropped it into my pocket and walked back in. Now they have metal detectors at the gate and everyone is checked.
While there is no telling what's in the car trailers and trucks that are in the pits I realize that spectators can cause more problems than the racers themselves.

I wonder what they'd say if someone were to walk in the gate with a 6" screwdriver in their pocket?

I wonder what they'd say if someone were to walk in the gate with a 6" screwdriver in their pocket? I have a 6 inch or so chunk of metal in my thigh. I'll see just how good the detectors are and how close they check. Went to the local courthouse last week and set theirs off. The guard had me pull up my shirt/jacket to make sure I didn't have any weapons. No pat down, no pocket check. Difference being I know the guys, but I could have easily carried my 380 right through the place.

Just saw and add that showing your hunting or fishing license will get you $4 off box office ticket price on Thursday or Friday. No clue what the normal box office price is, but worth it to show your license.

Interesting. That link showed the hunting fishing license day was a $2 discount and the television ad said $4.
