Some designations like this are pretty common. I knew what ACP stood for, but there are SO many designations out there that confuse me.
I think the reason ACP stuck around, or got popular in the first place, is because it was basically the first reliable "automatic pistol". In recent years some have tried to tag onto the coattails of ACP, like the .45G.A.P., or Glock Automatic Pistol". Glock is a very popular maker, and the .45 round is well respected, but the G.A.P. was a slightly lesser power round if I recall correctly.
I agree it's an interesting article. One could eat up hours upon hours learning about the idiosyncrasies of different ammunition.
I get lost now and again in an ammunition history book that my brother has. It lists details about ammo that's been obsolete for more than 50 years. Fascinating reading.

I just can't stand the term "assault" rifle, and feel a compulsion to correct it wherever, and whenever I see/hear the term. "Assault" is a behavior, NOT a device. Like Rush Limbaugh used to say, "Words mean things".

When asked how long it took to get the stamp approved I get a blank look.

The worst is "clip". How hard is it to know the difference between a mag and a clip?!?! I just want to smack them when they say clip and they are talking about a magazine.

I have a BAR in 7mm Rem mag. The B.A.R. is not what it used to be. B.A.R. means, "Browning Automatic Rifle", but the original WERE automatic, and I mean FULLY automatic machine guns.
I have a sporter version (read semi-auto) of the B.A.R., and they still call them that, but the name is misleading these days. I would LOVE to have a REAL B.A.R.

That was from the old "brown boot" Army days. I never shot one but I did get to carry one to the range. It was heavy for a soaking wet 140 pound recruit. Not near as heavy as the .50 caliber M2 I got to pack half of it too..

I got to carry a SAW , squad automatic weapon, around for 3 hours with full gear and armour on once. That was enough for me. Lol
