when I don't feel like killing.
This has been the worst waterfowl season ever for me 1 lousy drake Wood duck is all that stood between me and Pepe Le Pew.
I look forward to this extended goose season because my pond has open water in the winter and those late season geese like it here.
Last week all the geese in this area boogied but I knew this warm spell would bring them back and on Sunday they began to arrive so I put out my 7 goose decoys( that's all I use this time of the year ) on Sunday evening with hopes for an exciting Monday hunt.
When I got out to my blind on Monday morning I had 44 geese in the pond and on the shore and they for the most part were not concerned with my presence.
I had geese swimming within 15 yards of me on several occasions but I could tell that a lot of these birds were pairing off with intentions of nesting.
It was entertaining to watch the fighting all morning long even though my lab JESSIE could not understand this.
Yesterday I didn't feel like killing them and today was a ditto to yesterday once again I just didn't feel like killing.

WOW, 44 geese? Even if you don't feel like killing, I'd chase them off the pond. A single goose poops a pound of high nitrogen fertilizer per day, and that can feed a lot of algae in the pond..... Not to mention the invasive weeds they can bring to the pond. I had a pond that was clean of Eurasian water milfoil until a flock of geese decided the vacancy sign was open. Not 6 months later I first noticed it growing in the pond and I've ben fighting it and curly leaf pondweed ever since.

MIKE; I can guarantee you that this warm fuzzy feeling I am having toward these geese right now doesn't apply to turkeys.

I watched some this morning on a lake and met an old timer there that was scouting it. He actually said he had a decent season. Must have been in his 70's you could just see the experience in his eyes. I got some learning from him.

I'm only in my mid-40's and I have days like that too. Sometimes I just want to hunt but not kill. Some days I just don't feel like messing with the harvest after the kill so I opt not to kill. The days when I'm in the mood to harvest something nothing shows up.
