A new venture of mine after over 4 years essentially has taken that first step into existence. ZERO clue how this is all going to go...but Indiana Deer News Podcast has it's first episode up. www.indianadeernewspodcast.com/podcast/episode/333e6e32/episode-1-laying-the-foundation-for-indiana-deer-news-podcastStreaming sources of podcasts take time to confirm and populate the podcast over onto their sites/apps...but I do know Anchor, Spotify and Podbean have it showing already with many others including iTunes and Stitcher most likely within the week. This isn't going to blow people away as the best podcast ever production wise, nor am I the perfect host of a show...but I pray it over the coming months becomes a resource any deer hunter can enjoy listening to as it is centered solely around Indiana wild deer hunting. If you listen to it and have any feedback, good or bad or constructional concepts in the middle don't hesitate to share publically or privately with me. Just wanted to share with my forum brothers.

First suggestion I make is staying away from Politics and Religion!
I would add Turkey to the agenda also.

First suggestion I make is staying away from Politics and Religion! I would add Turkey to the agenda also. Political opinions will hopefully be kept to minimum, as illustrated in this episode the deer bill discussed is shared and encouragement to write in thoughts is pushed. As for the religion, doubt it gets any more religious than the small God bless at the end by me. Highly doubt it ever becomes a necessary topic. Turkey discussions could occur especially when topic overlap with deer exists, but being a deer centered podcast don't expect a specific episode on turkeys only. At least not to start out. Keep the thoughts coming moving forward! Always appreciate the feedback you have!

I listened to your first one. You are a good speaker, and I thought audio quality was fine. Some of the small-time podcasts I've listened to have a lot of static or are difficult to hear.
Is this going to be all "news" content? Or are you going to dip into hunting stories, strategies and the such?

News will always be part of it, but 100% plan on discussing all that Indiana deer hunters will garner something from. Have had a couple emails already desiring a discussion on regenerative ag practices and also topographical map analyzing...so I expect for sure at some point such topics will be discussed. Appreciate the kind words man.

I listened to it also. You do a very good job. I’ve been actively searching for podcasts with Indiana deer hunting topics and there really isn’t a whole lot out there so it’s a great idea.
I personally like diversity in topics and guests. Sometimes technical is good, sometimes light hearted is good.

While I've been lining up guests including DNR, DFW and Purdue Biologists...I've also got some region specific land managers and simply hunter as well to merely discuss tactics and approaches. I'm really excited about an episode discussing all things public lands in Indiana, from guys that put boots to dirt and/or kayaks on the water ways to get DEEP or to hard to reach spots with success and "failures".

I liked the podcast. Good clear audio... Not sure about the idea of a co-host. Most co-host are on the same page as the host and as such I am not sure they really ad much to the topic. I would rather hear a different opinion or from an expert on a particular subject....or even different experts on the same subject. I like the idea of staying on top of legislation and or certain events or the like as well.
A few topics maybe: Captive deer industry FSA/NRCS services DNR support services Minerals and supplemental feeding Cover vs food & habitat needs Taking the kids or getting them involved The real world isn't what we see in print or on TV CWD/EHD/TB
Also since you brought it up about the trophy photo....tell "Pops" to smile more...or if that IS his smile he needs to work on it! Haha!

A few topics maybe: Captive deer industry Not a 100% if this will be covered or not. Being a wild deer centered production....not sure how much I want to touch my feet into that water. Granted there is some cross over of concerns so no doubt it will occur, just a matter of time.

I wouldn’t give them the time of day being it’s NOT hunting!

Being that it is centered around wild deer herd, I doubt I'll have find a reasons to have captive herd owners on...but could ask biologists or guests thoughts on a topic which could include non-wild herds as well. I don't foresee or know of a topic, except perhaps outside of CWD that both wild and captive concern overlaps

All deer diseases can be found in the Wild and penned animals I do believe.
BOAH controls the penned deer in Indiana!

My interest in captive deer is the motivation behind it and the safe guards that are in place (if any). We as hunters seem to toss them under the bus and I am curious if that is simply a lack of knowledge on our part or if it is justified. I have never seen one up close or even been to one and I think many hunters may be in the same boat. Just trying to see a different perspective of it...is all. I wonder if we generalize those outfits based on the actions (potentially illegal actions) of a few....sort of how some folks view all hunters based on the actions of poachers. I don't want it to turn into the Jerry Springer show....

Captive Deer is not hunting and the DNR has no control over them they are controlled by BOAH and all licensing is though BOAH.
They are motivated by money.... it’s a business in many ways!

Listening to it at work today. Audio quality seems fine to me. I download podcasts through an app on my phone. I searched for it but didn't find it. I would be interested in hearing about food plots, water holes, calling, attractant scents, traditional gear, Indiana deer hunting history, etc.
