Watching this Q and A . Another farce. The managers and the President’s lawyers field questions from Senators ON THEIR OWN SIDE. No doubt both sides got together and the senators asked”What do you want us to ask?” Leading questions are not allowed in a court of law but is Modus Operendi here. The judge is doing a poor job too. There was supposed to be no rebuttal of the opposing side’s answers but Roberts never said boo when Schiff did it for several minutes and then went over his allotted time answering the question he was supposed to answer. Big joke... This is not a court of law. This is an impeachment trial that is more political than a court trial. Unfortunately, the constitution does not go into detail on how to run an impeachment trial in the US Senate. So the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court and the US Senate have to figure this all out for themselves. Remember this is only the 3 rd impeachment trail we have had in the last 240 years. The question that I have is why not have witnessed in this trial. Don't we want to know the truth? If watching both sides make their case doesn`yt already tell you the truth, then you`d never get it anyway. It`s crystal clear that the sole objective of dems is to throw out so much crap, so many convoluted arguments, so much spin and distortion that it just cannot all be addressed. The proceedings in the house were unconstitutional from the start because they didn`t follow established procedural guidelines. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the House to make the case and have the witnesses they want called, the job of the Senate is to hear that case. The President`s defense team did a wonderful job of offering a clear, concise, detailed defense, and explaining exactly why there are no impeachable offenses in anything the President did. The dems have made this a carnival sideshow because that`s exactly what they want this to be. Remember Pelosi stating how solemn and somber an event an impeachment proceeding is supposed to be, then making a signing party out of it, using 30 different pens to sign it? Dems, if only they could, would drag this out until August. Just as with the Brett Kavanaugh debacle, they would have "surprise" witnesses, with "new" information appear every other day. This mess is nothing more, nothing more, than the same old mess that dems said they would create from day one of this presidency. They had decided from the beginning that they were going to "impeach" this President. They tried to do it with the $35 million "Russia collusion" investigation. They were going to do that with the Ukraine investigation. But nothing sticks here, because the President did nothing inappropriate. And it`s funny that no one wants to talk about the FBI`s interference into the election by an adulterous FBI agent, or Hunter and Joe Biden`s connections in the Ukraine. So, no, this circus needs to be shut down NOW.

I'm glad it will be over in a few days. I hope they prosecute those Democrats for treason.

I think that the American people deserve to hear from eye witnesses like Bolton and the Chief of staff who were first hand witnesses to the President's dealings. If no witnesses are called the independant voters will see this as a fake trial and vote accordingly in Nov. Mitch McConnell is in danger of losing his senate seat. There are several over GOP US Senators that are up for reelection. Remember that KY's Governor's office went to the Dems this year. So Mitch is in danger of losing his senate seat. And the GOP could be in danger of losing the Senate. And there is nothing stopping the Dem's from impeaching the President on new articles of impeachement if the GOP Senate votes to not have witnesses. I thought that the Dems should have not recended the subpoenas and went to court to get those enforced and not depended on the GOP controlled Senate to call witnesses. But have you ever seen a trail where they didn't call witnesses? I have not.

The Ukrainian President has already said, there was never any pressure on him or his staff, and honestly, I believe the lines were long ago drawn. Everyone already believes what they believe, and no minds are going to be changed.

His return letter to me stated he needed more witness to go over the evidence. I returned stating that he is lying. There is no evidence, but nothing but made of lies from the House. Why are you pushing the propaganda lies? Have not heard back. I'm Glad he is stepping down.

It is the sole responsibility of the House to follow procedural protocols that comply with constitutional requirements for the proceedings, to manage the witness list, and make the case for impeachment. Period. It is not the responsibility of the Senate to arrange witnesses. With the clear understanding that these accusations were bogus in the first place, the very best thing that can happen for the country is to acquit this President and move forward. The only thing I`ll be left regretting is that there is no recourse to go after all the liars in the House, primarily Schiff, who lied through his teeth about nearly everything.

"And there is nothing stopping the Dem's from impeaching the President on new articles of impeachement if the GOP Senate votes to not have witnesses."
I know it's a done deal now, but even if the GOP voted to have witnesses; they were heard, and the vote still comes back as no to impeaching, what is to prevent the Dems from calling something else he does an impeachable offense and starting this process all over again?
I think that they dislike him so much that they are trying to keep him busy so he doesn't have the time to do what he said he was going to do in the first place.
I wish this is a wake up call to the GOP and that they will take a page from the Dem's playbook and starting acting in unison as well as the Dems do. The GOP needs to win back the House and keep the Senate and let the man do what he said he was going to do back when he was elected.
When will the politicians on both sides start working for the people again instead of themselves?

The thing I think I've appreciated most about the President through this sham impeachment, is that he's kept working all along. I remember the deal they announced that they would try to broker between Israel and those in the Gaza Strip. Of course, the terrorists rejected the peace deal before they even knew all the details, but, nevertheless, I was pleased to see President Trump continue to fulfill campaign promises even while dems screamed that rome was burning. This President has accomplished more in three years than any other has in eight.

Portman a couple times used parts of my letters per requests. I was very disappointed with him on his stance. I have his direct email so I wrote similar to your comment.

The Dems had 17 witnesses and a ton of documents for the secret committee meetings when the President and the Republicans got ZERO witnesses and ZERO documents.
Somehow Schumer and company says this is a “sham trial”. BZZZTT! Wrong!
They voted against witnesses and then entertained amendments to subpoena witnesses?
All failed.

The President’s lawyers took Schiff and company to the woodshed. In a court of law the judge would be saying “Case dismissed”! In a court of law there would be witnesses.

God I'm tired of hearing talking points from both sides...makes me wonder if we the people are capable of thinking for ourselves or if we are just limited to a life of regurgitating talking points fed to us by others.
Both sides got what they wanted at times. Both sides got screwed at times. The outcome was a foregone conclusion so all that remains to be seen is who's politic'n worked better come November.

I just watched Trump say that the military has been totally rebuilt with all new equipment, all made in the USA.
A while back he said that he was immediately giving the military a 10% raise, since they had not had any raise in many years.
Today he said that he was giving the handouts to the farmers with money from the tariffs that China is paying.
Also, the government is in better financial shape than ever
And the crowd is cheering

No one who understands how Due Process works, or, how the impeachment process is supposed to happen can say that, the House did it`s job, or, that the Senate didn`t do their job. And again, never mind that the entire thing was a hoax, just like the Mueller investigation. The only injustice in all this is that dems won`t be held accountable for all the chaos and money they`ve cost the taxpayer.

In a court of law there would be witnesses. There was.. 17 prosecution witnesses in the House and zero defendant witnesses.. Due process and defense not allowed.. A grand jury is done in secret and the defense has no witnesses. A trial has witnesses from both sides and discovery is required. This is neither a grand jury or a trail. It was am political impeachment where the dems controlled the house and the GOP controlled the US Senate. The results were predictable. The GOP had a chance to call all the witnesses that they wanted or needed in the US Senate trial part of the impeachment process but they failed to do so. Can't blame the grand jury for that. What is not totally predictable is how all this will affect the voters come Nov. Most voters will not even remember what happened this month come Nov. Time will tell if this impeachment will affect the vote come Nov. That's a long way away from now. But I bet that there will be some political commercials that will remind people of what happened. And the truth will come out eventually and history will be written about this event someday. The house impeachment is like a grand jury where only the prosecutor gets to call witnesses. This is the way it's done in a real court of law. You have a grand jury and then charging documents. Then the Trial begins and the defense gets to call its witnesses and cross-examine all witnesses. That is what the Senate should have done. No trial is complete without witnesses unless it's RIGGED.

So now that the outcome is assured, William Barr admits that the Justice Dept. has been sitting on dozens of e-mails from Administration officials about the issue.
What will it take to wake people up? You cant make this stuff up!
In November, one of two things will happen.
Trump will win, in which case you will soon see discussion about removing the 2-term limit.
Or, Trump will lose, but fight it.
People, we are being led down the road to tyranny, by the man who points at others and accuses them of it.
Is it too late for another Republican candidate? One that is capable of leading? Please!
Tuesday, when he crows about the great economy, take the time to look up the actual numbers. The last three years have actually seen a dramatic slowdown in growth. There is no hiding it, but you have to check for yourself.
What has grown is the deficit and the debt, at unprecedented rates.
