I have a T/C Compass that has accuracy issues. Gonna send it in for them to check out.
Anybody here dealt with them in recent times?

What type of accuracy issues? This rifle, .308 Win, on a good day, will shoot 2" - 2 1/2" at 100 yards. I know that it is an inexpensive firearm (under $200 with rebate), but T/C "guarantees" that they will shoot MOA. I've tried several different loads from 125 grain up to 180 grain. Barrel is floated, everything is good & tight, scope is good. I'm not a world class shooter, but I can regularly shoot under 1" groups with my 30 year old Savage .243, which has a terrible trigger. They are going to send me a Fedex shipping label to check it out. I just don't want to get into a drawn out issue with them. If not remedied fairly quickly I'll move on. That's why I'm curious re. their customer service. I wondered what others may have experienced. Actually, I've been checking out Howa, Tikka, and Weatherby rifles in .308. We'll see.

Sounds like you've tried about everything. Hopefully, TC can figure it out or replace the rifle.

If it comes to that, I will say you will NOT be disappointed with a Howa. I have two. One is a 1500 Sporter model in .204 Ruger. Shoots lights out every time, though it is LOUD! The other is also a 1500, but is wearing an AB Arms aluminum chassis, and is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor.
I bought it last year with the intention of taking a deer. Still waiting for that to happen, but only because I didn't see a deer when I had it in the woods.
Howa uses Weatherby actions and triggers, and they don't leave much to be desired. I will sing their praises all day long.
With all that said, I will bet that T/C makes it right without a long, drawn out process.

I was lucky enough back in the early '90's to attend an AcuSport dealers' show in Ohio. Back then they were a well-run wholesaler where we got most of our inventory. Real fun to walk around and see all the new products and meet company spokespeople. Met Greg Ritz when he was just a sales pitch-man at T/C. Since we were a T/C dealer, Greg ended up shipping us a care package with new T/C banners, counter mats, hats, stickers, ... still have my hat in the top of my closet and wear it occasionally. At that time I handled Howa's and Henry's and they both seemed like cheap junk. Howa finishes were awful and actions were not smooth at all. Henry's looked like cobbled together pot metal...fit and finish completely sucked and huge ugly screw heads. To me the Henry's still look about the same, but with some fantastic wood (for what this is worth mated to an ugly receiver). Apparently Howa has come a long way as I hear LOTS of praise for the Howa's; particularly for their accuracy. May have to look at them again the next time I get an itch for a new rifle.

I received my Compass back from T/C about a week ago. Have not had opportunity to get to the range yet. As far as their turn around time I'm satisfied. Hopefully, It'll shoot better than it did.

I do not know how I missed this thread. I have dealt with TC service twice. Both times they were exelant. The time that comes to mind is when I was in an accident and got tboned. My TC muzzeloader got thrown out of the truck and bounced down the road breaking the stock(no one was hurt in the accident) I called TC and ask how much it would cost to buy a new stock (explaining the reason it was broke) they said send it in we will fix it for free. I explained the gun was 15+ years old and was broken because of the accident and was not their fault. They said it does not matter it is guaranteed for life. So I sent it in and they put a new stock with new brass and unbeknownst to me the tang was bent they put on a new tang on it. I hunted with that gun until I bought my savage smokeless MZ that I still hunt with to day.[b I am editing this to show I screwed up on the second gun. It was NOT a TC it was a savage ml 10. But there service was just impressive as TC. I have left the second part intact to show my pleasure with savage.
The second was with the smokeless MZ. When I got it I used one of their recommended powders and bullets and it shot excellent. The problem was when it got in the 5 degree range it would not go boom.(lost 3 deer because the gun would not fire even with second primer. So I called them and explained the situation. They gave me the phone no and name of Randy Wakeman and said to call him. Said he would help me. I did and he did. The problem was during TC load development for the gun they were developed in a heated environment and the powder recommended was not hot enough to fire in cold temps. Randy recommended a hotter powder and the load parameters io go with it. It worked great and I was back to loveing the gun again. I cannot say enough good about their customer service. They have always been pleasant to work with and taken care of the problem asap.

When did TC come out with a smokeless muzzleloader or is this something brand new?

Onebentarrow Boy I screwed that one up. I sure look like a dunce now. Sorry about that!! I was hoping that they were finally entering the smokeless muzzleloader arena! I'm a T/C fan because of dealing with their muzzleloaders for so many years and only remembering one customer that had any issues with their rifles. The only issue I remember in the 12-13 years that I worked for that gun shop was that a Bold trigger had to be replaced on a Thunderhawk carbine. T/C shipped out another trigger after a call to them and it was replaced in the muzzleloader in a week. I would sure love it if they revived the Omega and had it rated for smokeless!! Jeff Fisk has proven that it is a great platform.

Did they say what they did to it? No specifics. Simply says repaired & range tested. They did send photo of target, looks pretty good. I'm going to try to get to the range later in the week, if weather isn't too bad.

Smokeless TC?
Bestill Creations Custom Muzzleloaders can make a TC Omega into a smokeless muzzleloader. I understand he does great work.

I'm not exactly ready to dump another $900 into an Omega to make it smokeless. I would just get another 45/70 conversion first. Love my T/C Encore smokeless. It started as a 24" stainless 45/70 that someone had MagnaPorted. It cost me $240, I think?? Cost $100 for the machine work and $80 (??) for the breech plug. Shoots unbelievable for the small investment and is really light to carry. Nice thing is that it would cost almost exactly the same right now if I wanted to have another one converted for my other Encore frame.

Just got back in from Wilbur Wright range. Just a 50 yard range, but, after sighting in I put the last 3 shots in about 1/2". I can live with that.
I'll get to a longer range when it warms up and dries out some.
So, as far as my experience, T/C customer service is pretty good.
