I will always remember and I will always stay grounded. I'm just hoping that I can retire a year or two earlier and have a great hobbie in retirement. I'm not one to sit around. I prefer to be doing something. Hoping to have 10 or 11 hives going into 2020 hunting season.

9 lots 4 at 2.5 and 5 at 5 arcre to do it I had each lot plotted and perk tested When they did the lay out it was called a Mylar basically it’s a blueprint of the lots drives and right of ways for utilities and drainage The name of it is fallen oaks once I did all of this I had to go in front of the county and declare if it would be a county road or taken care of by me or basically the association as it’s a shared drive Then I had to go in front of the BZA that involved size of home setbacks live stock fences for the most part the rules at the same time the meeting was open to the public for comment or questions It took about a year to get it done I don’t remember the cost as it’s been some time but by the time I payed the attorney surveyer perk test it ran around 6000 Six grand would be cheap.

You should have one hell of a nest egg in your future! A buddies brother builds custom homes. He bought, iirc, 92 acres and had it all sub divided. He really put his neck out, and put everything he had up for collateral. He said the potential was something like $16 million with selling all lots, and building just a few homes. This was a couple years ago, and in a high end Mishawaka area. I know he is doing very well now.

When you are set up to ship to the consumer, let me know. My wife and I will be a customer.

Good news. Ohio has 1 Apiary inspector. Crazy short handed. She inspected mine and my friend yesterday. We both passed with no issues. Clean bill of health. Now I can sell. Yah. The cost is $5 per Apiary. She liked my setup. How I use roofing paper under the hives and bees enter from the bottom. No landing board. I'm working on a final design to mass produce and sell. Keeps hive beetles, wax moths and yellow jacket wasp out. Now it a way to keep varroa mites out.

I catch my 1st swarm this afternoon and evening. Got the call around 3:30 today. Swarm of bees on a fence post. Location was New Richmond, Ohio. Located on the east side of Cincinnati. A 45 minutes drive. No stings and very gentle bees.

I hope you do well, I've always been mindful of bees, I try not to use any pesticides on much of anything except the house for termites. What's your take on these hornets in the North West? Will they be able to stop them? If not anyway you can make a box "Giant Asian Hornet" proof?

I did a little research and it they ever make it this far I have a plan. I will make the entrance only big enough for the honeybee and not the giant hornet. I read they are 3 times bigger. I will find their ground location, put on my suite, and destroy the queen and any that get in the way. No mercy!

You better put on two suits, the article I read states they can sting right through a beekeepers suit.

I caught my first swarm today, was on a bush about two feet. How many hives do you have? I'm up to 5 with 4 queen laying. One is out at day 6 making queen cells. I had to put a frame of eggs. Virgin didn't make it back.

I was driving to get gas yesterday and saw the swarm on the side of road, first time ever getting a swarm.

Congrats on 1st one. I'm hoping for 2 or 3 more swarms. Maybe I need to drive around near other beekeepers.

This evening I'm picking up two more hives, so that will make 7 hives. I have two queens coming in July and that will make 9 hives. This Thursday I will be grafting 30 queen cell cups so in a week I don't know how many hives I'll end up with. I'm grafting for three other friends so most queen cells will go to them. I have enough equipment for 15 hives. I'll let you know in a month how many I end up with. Been bee busy.
