...heck, some of the 'cowboy calibers' have went over what they were originally intended with AR platforms, etc. ... A particular round performs the same way in a Winchester 1894 as it does in an AR-15. My muzzleloader pushes a 200-grain bullet 2500 FPS -- and that's with a light powder charge. That's better performance than a .308 Win with the same bullet weight. And with more powder and a lighter bullet, I could approach 3000 FPS. As for handguns, anything .243" and larger was legal in them long before the same calibers were allowed in rifles for deer. I have an AR-15 pistol, which is pretty much a mirror image of an AR-15 rifle, so I'm set even if it were pistol only. I much prefer bowhunting to firearms hunting, and like you, I try to finish up before firearms season opens. My best season saw a buck and five does fall to my arrow by the Thursday before the firearms opener. Where you and I differ is that I switch to a firearm when that season opens, as I like a little diversity. Being a "gun nut" doesn't help.

In the end, some would rather it be stick bows, smooth bore slug guns and sidelocks ONLY. Funny thing is, if a person wants to they can still hunt that way.
HPRs have caused no deaths in this state despite the cries of how dangerous the woods would be due to all the hunters carrying RIFLES. If I'm not mistaken, pistols chambered in calibers .243 and up are allowed on public ground (and have been for years) and as such, I've never really understood why rifles chambered in the same calibers aren't allowed.
Perhaps that will change someday...

Yes, for now.
And there is simply no reason for it.
Look at how many thousands of acres surround all that public land that a traditional center fire rifle is legal on and all the wildcat center fire rifles that are legal on public land, now tell me a logical reason for the ban.

blah.. blah .. blah .. go ahead and use your bang sticks, ;0) .... I'm not stepping on public land during gun season ... to much pressure and to many Elmer Fudd's for my liking ... my vacation(s) usually end that opening Saturday as it is, I wont go out again until Dec., once things quiet down again, but many times I dont have too as I have filled both archery tags by then which is my yearly plan (dosnt always work out though)... I quit deer gun hunting in 2013, I find BOWhunting to be more to my liking .. I do use my 22-250 for 'yotes and the shotgun for bunnies after deer season is over ... and if for some reason I couldnt BOWhunt, I'd go back to firearms, 'prolly back to the ML .....

Isn't it absolutely fantastic that you get to make the decision on what weapons you use and aren't restricted by someone else's opinion?

Absolutely correct, and if we wanted to push it we could approach .458 Win Mag performance in the .50 cal muzzleloader with 350g bullets. It's just a LOT more convenient foe me to use a 6# .243 Win during gun season. Then switch to the Savage ML during muzzleloader season if needed. I COULD use the ML during gun season and I have done so here and in Wi. without feeling limited or handicapped. Just harder to get a quick 2nd shot is all.

Every post was an argument and the people who ran that site let it deteriorate into nothing. I'll be shocked if that is allowed here.

Signed by the Speaker of the House on 3/16 and by the President of the Senate on 3/18, so it's off to the Governor's desk.

Signed by the Governor on 3/21/20. Ok, so the use of HPR`s is permanent on private ground, but still prohibited on public, right?

Ok, so the use of HPR`s is permanent on private ground, but still prohibited on public, right? Depends on your definition of “HPR”.. PCR`s have always been legal on both, right? I`m talking the calibers that were previously prohibited on public ground: .30-06, .270 etc.
