It was something to be part of. My family worked at Guide. Most of my friends family worked there.
I grew up a short walk across a field from the river. Spent days and nights fishing and swimming the river. Went to BSU to be a fisheries biologist. Graduated Dec 1998. Started work with IDEM office water quality Feb 1999.
On Dec 18, 1999 my boss called me in his office and sent me to Anderson to begin sampling up stream and down stream of Anderson wastewater discharge. It was inconceivable the disaster that was unfolding.
After work I grabbed my Dad and headed to our spots. The number and quality of dead fish punched us in the gut.
I dont live in Anderson any more. I dont work for IDEM any longer but that event certainly impacted me more than I ever expected it could have.

And what will the multi-billion dollar I-69 project, with all it's projected impact of increased run off due to the traffic, along with new home building, new factories, increased sewage discharge, septic tanks, etc. due to our water purity? IDEM ever figured that one out yet? Maybe someone one this site has access to a lot of information that as of yet has not been released!I park my truck out side in the driveway, and many a morning I have found tiny black spots all over it, can't keep the streaks of the front windows, looks oily. Washing the truck with a large sponge, and dipping it back into a bucket for more soapy water will darken the contents at the end of the washing. Never happened before I-69 was born.

I wonder where all the minuscule particles from all the tires that wear down end up?

I wonder where all the minuscule particles from all the tires that wear down end up? Most likely Further downstream than the heavy metals that come out of the exhaust.

Sounds familiar I live in Bedford area and know several folks who lost land to I69. One in particular lived on 50 wooded acres at the end of a dead end road. The stat took 18 acres right out the middle. He has 2 parcels now split by the interstate and a loud road 300 feet behind his house. During construction he had IDEM on speed dial. Run off concerns, air quality and noise concerns due to rock crushing set up on his old place. Trespassing etc... The road was not popular here at all

Everything you listed is regulated. Erosion control measures, best management practices for water quality, retention ponds for runoff, air quality regulations for factories. This isn't China (no regulations) and you can't stop progress unless you want no economy, or jobs, or commerce.
