I`ve struggled with getting my breech plug completely clean. I`ve watched YouTube videos, I`ve read everything I can, but I just cannot get them clean. I look through the flash hole after cleaning, and still, I always have to take a very, very thin wire I found, that barely fits inside it. and push a hole through.
I`ve thought about trying to find some high-velocity compressed air to blow it out. I`ve thought about buying a sonic bath but the cheapest I found, on Amazon is still well over a hundred dollars.
Do you guys struggle like I do? Or have you figured out how to really get that breech plug properly cleaned?

I use a welding torch tip cleaner set to clean my flash hole. I forget what size it is, but I checked it on a new one, then made a note of what size tip cleaner to use. You can also use a new one (my breech plug uses an grade 8 hardened screw with a hole drilled in it for a flash hole) and check the size with a wire drill bit set. Then clean the hole out with the correct sized drill bit.
Try easy off oven cleaner to get a lot of carbon junk off it too.

I use a welding torch tip cleaner set to clean my flash hole. I thought the tip cleaners were a good idea too. But over time they will enlarge the hole. I probably fired more shots in a weekend than most guys do in a lifetime of use going to shoots all over the NE Indiana area though. I use a smooth pick made from piano wire (found at hobby shops). For hunting I flush pure water through the vent/nipple. I follow that with a flush of brake cleaner. I plug the nipple or flash hole and shoot the cleaner in. I get a tight fitting patch moistened with cleaner and pull the tooth pick and quickly force all that is down there out. Make sure the patch is wet before doing this or it probably will get stuck. I have not had a problem with my caplocks or flint guns since I started doing this. Some of the Italian caplocks with drums and MLs with a breech like TC uses are a real challenge to get clean. without removing the cleanout screw and they are a real PITA to get clean.
