Do coots really eat baby ducks? Seen a contest where they are giving nice prizes away for most coots killed in a year turned in to save baby ducks. All I found was one article from delta that talked about someone seeing coots chasing baby ducks off. Anyone ever hear of this?

The only problem with hunting for coots is they don't fly!
I believe the DNR migrates them by semi at night because you never see a flock of them in flight and because one day you see a bunch of them on a pond and the next day their gone.
I believe DUFF hunts them regularly and I have heard that he has a large "coot" decoy spread.

There excellent to eat. I love them so much that I always give them to other people to enjoy. Dont want to be known as a selfish man.

Usually kill close to a 100 every season for the young dogs to retrieve. I have made sausage from them in the past.
